Yet another 8541 error code

Day 8.

I'm trying to list a product with variations.

When I add a variation and insert the correct EAN (which I have done successfully for other products), I receive the error code 8541 on 'Material', under 'Product Details' page.

The value Polyester specified cannot be used as it conflicts with the value ‎Polyester, Memory Foam for ASIN B0CYKXR69S in the Amazon catalogue. If this is ASIN B0CYKXR69S, update the value to match the ASIN data. If this is a different product, update identifying information (UPC/European Article Number (EAN)/Part Number/etc.). Learn how to fix this error.

On checking the ASIN's listed in the error message, I find that they do not exist.

The only way I have found to get rid of the error code 8541 and to be able to summit the listing is to change the UPC/EAN/GTIN to a ASIN - but it is a UPC/EAN/GTIN, bought from mygs1 UK.

When I have tried to submit the listing using ASIN, it seems to go through ok but under 'Inventory Manager', the listings doesn't appear, even after a couple of days.

I have been contacting Seller Support but most of their replies seem to have no relevance to the problem.

Any help would be gratefully apricated.

Thanks

Hi @Seller_Rciol52Oa6mrj,

Thank you for reaching out on the forums.

The error 8541 suggests a conflict between the input value and existing data in Amazon's system. Despite verifying that the ASIN is not present in the catalogue, the system still detects it internally.

Changing the GTIN of the ASIN it's not the recommended solution, especially if you're using valid GTIN codes obtained from mygs1 UK.

Using improper GTINs can result in issues with inventory management and product identification.

For more details on the error, you can visit here.

I would suggest deleting and relisting the listing, then waiting at least 24 hours for Amazon's system to fully clear out the old contributions.

Remember to use the GTIN as the Product ID (not the ASIN) on the template file. First, create the product in your inventory, then attempt to create the variation family.

Please keep us updated.

Regards, Ezra
