USPS Packages Being Routed To Incorrect States

Has anyone else been experiencing packages ending up in the wrong state then being routed to the correct one? I have at least a dozen this has happened to in the past couple of weeks. They end up barely making it on time or some even have gotten there late. Before Christmas it was the sort facility delaying a day to get my packages through. Now not only am I having them routed incorrectly some, but many of the packages that go to my local sort facility then go to another sort facility nearby then they make their way out? Idk what is going on anymore and my local post office is of no help with any information.

Yes, this is a common issue with the USPS. They have a lot of mis-routing issues. I see it all the time as well. I do my best to ship my USPS packages early to help minimize USPS screw-ups.

Hi @Seller_gatjkdfPmzT4O,

Thank you for reaching out on the Seller Forums!

While I cannot speak for USPS and their shipping process, I am eager for other sellers to chime in here with their experiences with this.

That said, if you have any additional questions related to the Amazon portion of this process, please let me know!

All the best,

Jameson

As the USPS becomes more automated, rather than human-based, may see less of this. One of the worst hell-holes, Bell Garden. where all our MM used to go but now fully automated, was changed to hubs in Phoenix/Albuquerque/El Paso. Always imagined inexperienced seasonal help who mis-read TX for TN or SC for NC or MI for MA but never could figure FL for NY/NJ.

Only had one parcel this season that went noticeably awry.

No offense, do you pre-pay labels thru AMAZON. Stamps, Pirate Ship, etc. that have easily readable text/tracking? We always increase the font on AMAZON, their regular font is too small.

Personally, received some odd labeling on commercial packaging this holiday season or no labeling at all. Several written in cursive directly on a manila padded envelope and one w/ $4-5 worth of postage(USPS Forever Stamps) placed in rows, covering right side of the packaging. Wonder we ever received them.

Not for Amazon items, but for other items I have had similar issues. I have had items getting stuck between sort facilities for MONTHS. I have twice had to have the local post office intervene to manually grab the package and ensure it is properly routed. 3 months later, a priority package was delivered. Usually they do a good job, but when things go wrong, they go wrong.

Goverment is incompetent at all levels from local to national. The generations employed are incompetent, many cannot read or write. They just do not care, they do not want to do their best!

It is going to get worst! But the younger generation will not notice it, they will be use to incompetence and bad service.

YES! I had a non-Amazon package shipped to FL and it ended up in Sacramento, CA and is now, I presume, lost after 30 days of non-movement. I have no idea what they are doing sometimes.

It’s not common however I did have one ground advantage package in December shipped from the central US to the east coast that was routed through California. Customer filed an a-z claim which Amazon granted and funded (used ‘buy shipping’ and sale price was under $100). Package was delivered after 2 weeks in transit and the customer got it for free. So, usps ok for items under $100 if you use Amazon ‘buy shipping’ and ship on time.

Oh yeah this is outside of Amazon, it happens all the time. Once went to their state, back to my state, then back to theirs. They ended up getting it a week late.

I have one shipment that went from Santa Clarita sort facility, to Los Angeles sort facility, then to Anaheim sort facility, and is now in Minnesota when it should be in Wisconsin.

I have another shipment that got to Denver CO on the 7th and is still not delivered even though the destination is in CO. It jumped from there to Fort Collins CO back to Denver CO and still out there somewhere.

We've had this issue as well, orders arriving late because they went to the wrong state and then re-routed back to the original shipping address.
