Account Deactivated by KYC UK verification - Our account has been deactivated for 182 days

Our account was suspended on October 7 due to a KYC (Know Your Customer) review. Prior to this, our account had successfully passed the KYC verification process three times without any issues. Our account has been deactivated for 182 days.

CASE ID: 12270388112

However, following the most recent KYC review, our account has not been reactivated. Based on the feedback we received, the issue appears to be related to our company address being a shared/virtual address.

We would like to clarify the following:

  • Our registered UK bussines address is only used for official correspondence and documentation purposes.
  • This address is not our Primary Operating Address.
  • The use of such an address is fully legal and compliant under HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) regulations.
  • We are not established in the UK (Non-UK established business) and therefore, it is not possible for us to provide utility bills or invoices under this address.
  • However, we do have a valid service agreement / lease contract with our UK address provider, which we can submit as supporting documentation if required.

Furthermore:

  • Our actual Primary Operating Address is located in Turkey, and we are fully prepared to provide all supporting documents related to this address.
  • Our bank statements clearly show the company name and registered address.
  • We also have official incorporation documents issued by Companies House.

We would also like to highlight that:

  • Our account has been suspended for approximately 6 months.
  • During this period, we have not received any invitation for a video verification call.
  • Most of our submissions appear to have been reviewed by automated systems, and we strongly believe that a proper manual review has not yet been conducted.

This situation is severely impacting our business operations and we are also unable to access the funds held in our account.

Our Request:

  • Enable the Primary Operating Address field to be editable in our account
  • Allow us to update it to our actual operating address in Turkey
  • Conduct a manual review by a KYC specialist
  • Arrange a video verification call if necessary
  • Reactivate our account as soon as possible or clearly inform us of any remaining requirements

We trust that Amazon values its sellers, however, the prolonged delay and lack of clear communication are causing serious operational and financial difficulties for our business.

We kindly request your urgent support in resolving this matter.

Kind regards,

@Simon_Amazon @Spencer_Amazon @Ezra_Amazon @Ash_Amazon @Sarah_Amzn @Abella_Amazon

No, previously we were operating in the UK. However, since our account has been suspended, we are currently conducting all our operations from our address in Turkey.

Because our account is suspended, we have not completed our VAT registration yet. Once our account is reactivated, we will proceed with VAT registration and continue our sales.

The main issue at the moment is that we are unable to update our Primary Operating Address, and the KYC system is automatically rejecting our verification.

it doesn’t work like that- you are legally required to be Vat registered NOW. Amazon won’t reinstate your account until you comply with this requirement as they themselves are legally required to ensure all the sellers on their platform are compliant with UK laws.

Accounts with VAT registration are also being suspended due to KYC issues, and sometimes there can be system errors.

In my case, I had a UK-based director, so I did not need a VAT registration. After the account was suspended, we removed the director and started waiting for the account to be reinstated.

But for a closed account, what difference would obtaining a VAT number actually make?

actually you were always legally required to be Vat registered as any beneficial owner named on the account who is not a uk resident are ALWAYS required to be vat registered in uk.

This seems to be a common misunderstanding - check out what a NEPT is. Amazon are only really now enforcing this legal requirement because uk government are now forci g them to make their sellers vat compliant (or they have to pay their vat bills themselves)

Yes, I am already aware of this. If we are not established in the UK, we are required to obtain a “NEPT” VAT number.

However, in our case, we were initially established in the UK and had a director who was residing there. Later, due to the Amazon KYC suspension, we had to remove the director.

I dont want to labour the point but ... having a uK director doesnt mean you qualified for Vat exception if any of the owners weere non uk then you always needed to be registered.

Anyway I wont comment further exceopt to say you need to regiater for Vat before Amazon will open your account.
