Customs charge scam
had a customer put in an a-z claim becuase they didn’t want to pay the customs charge (from eire). Claim was upheld (of course), so they were refunded, then they paid the customs charge and received the item. Amazon don’t give a stuff. Anyone else been scammed like this?

there should be no customs charges for the customer to pay
Did you send the order with the IOSS etc electronically uploaded ?

How have you not known about this though, there are 100s of threads about it plus all the carriers have communicated the changes etc.

I cannot add anything to the argument about whether or not the customer should be paying customs charges- I know nothing about it.
What I can say is that nobody seems to have mentioned what I assume is the main point of the OPs post - ie the buyer seems to have been refunded and then claimed the package. To my mind it is immaterial whether the op has made a mistake or not ---- the buyer should not be getting a refund AND the goods

We had something similar from a customer in the Netherlands.
It was an IOSS order, Sent Tracked & Signed IOSS by Royal Mail. But when it got to Netherlands, they wouldn’t honour the IOSS and charged VAT on it (Order was £60 so wasn’t over threshold). Customer did A-Z and won, then went and paid the customs charge and collected the parcel.
Tried to appeal to Amazon, but they weren’t bothered.

Yep! This is exactly why I no longer sell anything outside the UK on Amazon
I use the Global Shipping Programme on another site that actually looks after sellers!!

The EU has created an nightmare by stating business and private have to be dealt with differently
Amazon like every ecoomerce platform cannot cope with this split, I was advised I need to ask the customer before they order, no platform does that
If you send via IOSS it is private only, but can be delivered to a business address, the commercial invoice needs to show private but delivery can be business
It also needs to be under 150euro value
We cannot sell to EU anymore through amazon because its near on impossible to sort that true costs of VAT rate, shipping costs etc
All in all, take a look at your sales, you can advise the customer before you dispatch what the outcome will be and go from there
You can also get your own IOSS number through EU accountants and ship yourself
Other than that, trade with the EU has become highly restrictive

How quickly people forget that there were no issues whatsoever before Brexit, is the penny finally dropping?
