handmade reclassification

I'm a UK handmade seller, I primarily sell personalised greeting cards. I keep downloading my category listing spreadsheet every week or so as requested, and I'm still on 'GUILD_HOME'. Nothing seems to have changed. Have any UK handmade sellers had anything happen to their listings yet?

Am a bit concerned, as we're coming to Christmas, and obviously, I want to make sure I've got everything right in time to maximise sales.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. My listings are still categorised as GUILD, so I'm getting very concerned about how this will impact sales.

@Seller_oSsAF8rP2fbZfI've also been having problems with using my own brand name. Like you I received a Brand Registry Waiver in 2022, but now I can't add new products under my brand name.

Received an email today: "Hello, Your Handmade products listed exclusively in the Amazon.com store have been reclassified from general “GUILD” types to specific product types (such as SANDALS or NECKLACE). You can identify reclassified products by downloading your Category Listings Report and searching for product types that no longer show GUILD and Handmade classifications showing as “unclassified”. Once your products have been reclassified, you’ll need to take action to verify the reclassification and ensure that your listings remain visible to customers. We’ll send an email once the reclassification of all Handmade products is complete globally. Please note that if you have other listings, we are continuing to move through our catalogue and will complete this reclassification process by March 31, 2026."

Downloaded Category Listing Report to find out that all of our listings (2000 of them) have still GUILD_HOME in Product Type. However, on Amazon Marketplace they are all over the categories, all of them are incorrect and we still don't have a power to amend it.

The busiest time of the year and we are nowhere near what we had previous years. Another way of Amazon destroying small businesses.

I got the same email yesterday. Had a slight panic but eventually realised (I hope) that it was referring to the .com site.

I have a US Handmade account too, but never ever listed anything on it. I'm hoping it was just because of that. I couldn't see any changes to my UK Handmade listings or their visibility. And yeh, the time of year is extremely frustrating. They say not to edit certain fields whilst this is ongoing and at the same time seem to be making a hash of the move meaning we want to go in and fix them - though I can't see any changes to the 'Product Type' column yet.

I don't have time to go through 3000 listings to see if they are different from what's in that report. Also I can't understand why the report has the ASIN field empty for my Handmade listings, but the listings all have ASINs. Am I meant to go and manually add them to the report and upload it? This seems such a mess.

It got me all excited I thought oh maybe they have managed to catch up after all- so downloaded the report for the 3rd time, only to see all GUILD as usual. So annoying, I am trying to prepare for my Christmas fairs (of which I will be doing every week for the next 6 weeks to try and make ends meet) and don't have time to be doing this in November !!

The most annoying part is that I can see that my products are in COMPLETELY WRONG categories and browse nodes on Marketplace at the moment (almost like I do not know what MY product is and Amazon knows better!?) but I have no rights to change them - Edit mode doesn't reflect my changes and Category Listing Report still has GUILD so there's no option to amend this either.

Waiting for customer complaints because they bought fragrance oil NOT suitable for making candles in Candle Making Scents category picked by Amazon.

Maybe we should add a note on every listing: "Please read the description thoroughly, because the category you found this product in is most likely incorrect!"

Above the product title when you open the listing on desktop. On mobile version you can scroll down and look for "You are here" - this should also show the same category & browse node.

How is everyone doing? My listings were all moved earlier this week. It created a time-consuming mess with many images (wrongly) flagged as incorrect & therefore suppressed. Plus the category listing report gave me incomplete data - missing most of my ASINs. Managed to sort it all eventually. There was other problems with the spreadsheets too. It was all a bit of a mess. Far from the "just go into your listings and add a handmade classification & check fields" instructions. Not fun when you have 2K listings.

Now we wait to see if it improves views and sales.
