Amazon Postage vs Etsy
12/13/2024: Ship Form California To Florida - Same Person - Same Address - Same Item..... 12oz package: Amazon Charges $6.66 vs Etsy Charges $5.56 = Etsy $1.10 Cheaper Shipping ( All Else Identical )..... Apparently It Is Just Another Way To Rip Off Small Business' By Amazon. Sad Times.

I had to ship a 3oz package to a customer who ordered both here and on Etsy. Both packages costed the same of $4.58. They both went to the post office today so I don’t know when they will make it to our destination.
Sucks that I have to pay the charge twice and I don’t know why my buyer didn’t just buy them both on the same marketplace, and so not taking the risk of shipping together because I want to be protected incase anything goes wrong with either package.

Etsy does have the option of Cubic Pricing, which depending on the specifics, can be cheaper than weight-based. I don't know if they automatically detect and use the cheapest USPS rate or not (as I don't use Etsy shipping anymore, and they didn't have Cubic back when I did).
May not be what is going on in your case, but only legit (as opposed to purposeful greed or accidental error) explanation that comes to mind.
I use PirateShip for all my shipping (eBay, Etsy, Amazon). It is an easy copy/paste of the entire address in one-go, so minimal hassle (Etsy and eBay integrate with PS, but Etsy is cutting that off for those not already using it).
