First time ever seeing "Signature Confirmation Recommended" on high value Amazon Business UK buyer
fellow sellers
just experienced a first ever order (UK business customer) flagged with "Signature Confirmation Recommended" I had never seen this before on an order. Some searching leads me to believe Amazon think this is a high risk customer? Is this correct, if the customer is high risk why are they still on Amazon 🤣🤦♂️ This order is high value too.
I can add a signature no problems but makes me concerned that this is a scammer and a signature doesn't really solve being scammed on Amazon, a better thing would be letting sellers cancel these kind of orders with no defect on metrics and protection from bad feedback as I really don't like the idea of sending this.
Any mods who can comment on this?

No mods will comment unless you tag them in, as they won't see your post. Why do you think this is a scammer ? Surely if it is a high value item then sending Special Delivery would be wise, as it will be signed for.

because amazon have flagged the order "Signature Confirmation Recommended" which I've never seen before. when I searched why this order was so special its come up that the amazon platform deem the buyer risky = scammer?
yes I'm aware I can send special or any signed for carrier but i was asking others for advice if they'd come across this type of flag on their order before and secondly would the mods offer any protection if I simply cancelled the order since Amazon already know the buyer is risky.

I have never seen that type of flag before, but I tend not to sell very expensive items. I wonder if this is a new thing they are introducing due to the number of INR claims for high-priced items - recommending you do use a service that requires a signature - just my thought - as Amazon do expect a signature as proof of delivery if the customer open an A-z claim - they rarely accept even GPS and doorway photo.
And NO , the mods will not/cannot offer any protection ! If you feel really certain that it is a scammer, and your metrics can take the hit, then cancel. To be honest, I'm not so sure it is because Amazon think the buyer is risky, how would they know that unless they have made lots of claims before ? - maybe more like a recommendation for any high-priced item.

i found this on the help page

Seems its what I said, its combination of the high value of the item + the buyers metrics = risky sale
I've sold items 4-5x the cost of this before its nowhere near the dearest item on my store that I sold today and they've never been flagged before with Amazon encouraging us to take a signature.
getting the signature isn't the issue just more concerned about this feature and why its not talked about much on this forum, i only saw one other thread which didn't have a lot of info on it either.

I don’t recall Amazon EVER announcing that policy. Which is insane as it’s actually useful (which could be why they didn’t announce it)
That being said, you’d assume they’d also build this into the A-Z policy and actually accept a signature as proof of delivery.

Hello @Seller_vNGUliyBfm8re,
I checked with our partner team about the article: Signature confirmation recommendation and found out that it was updated a few months ago, informing sellers of this new feature.

@Spencer_Amazon Then surely this should have been intimated to we sellers, even via a News Announcement, especially if policies are updated - how are we supposed to know ?

Hello All,
Given the many reports on the Forum of blatant abuse of Amazon's refund policies, resulting in hundreds of refunds for items then being resold on other platforms, it sems probable to me that the "Signature Confirmation Recommended" is linked to both the history of the buyer and the item value...
Can Indas advise the approximate value of the items that were flagged in this manner?
It would seem prudent for Amazon to have a low 'trigger' value as many low-value items are as damaging as one high-value item...
Perhaps the number of refunds alone, or the high percentage of historical orders refunded, should be the basis for this trigger...
All Best
