Read onlyHi All,
I am wondering if anyone has any experience getting an export restriction removed from an item and therefore making it available for remote FBA. I am super interested in this because AZ is adding UAE to remote FBA early next year and that can definitely make the whole process worthwhile.
I sell kitchen knifes (among other things) and most of my stock is available on remote FBA with the exception of my own branded items (kitchen knifes). I have noticed on the remote FBA report all kinds of anomalies with my other products - some products are sellable in Germany but not Spain, some that should be sellable everywhere are not - and I have even had a perfume (dangerous goods) go into remote FBA when it's supposed to be explicitly removed. So no real rhyme or reason as to why some things are available on remote FBA and why others aren't.
If you look into the listings report in remote FBA it says "this ASIN has export/import restrictions" and "if you want to understand more, or dispute the restriction contact seller support". I have contacted seller support and of course no one has a clue in reality why an item is available on remote FBA and another isn't etc. And no way to "dispute" the restriction as according to seller central these things are done "automatically".
So what I would love to do is talk to someone in Amazon who is actually FROM remote FBA to understand what the art of the possible is for kitchen knifes.
Have any of you sold kitchen knifes in remote FBA? Or have you got any experience in getting a restriction lifted on your item?
Thanks.
Hi @Seller_Zovt1x5tinPh5
Did you have a look at the help page on FBA prohibited products?
The following products cannot be sold through Fulfillment by Amazon:
Machetes, kukris, knives, knife blades, razor blades, swords, daggers, axes and any other articles with a blade or which is sharply pointed and is made or adapted for use for causing injury to persons; with the exception of the following products, which can be sold without age verification:
Kitchen knives are often restricted for export due to being considered potential weapons or dangerous goods.
Cheers, Ezra
Hi there @Seller_Zovt1x5tinPh5,
I've received feedback from our partner team and the ASINs will remain restricted.
I know you're seeing these inconsistencies across different marketplaces, and your knives are selling fine in the US.
While I wish I could give you more specific details about why, I'm actually not able to share the exact reasons for the restrictions due to our compliance rules.
The best I can advise is to make sure all your product information is up to date, as requirements can be quite different between EU marketplaces.
Sometimes what works in one country might not work in another due to local regulations.
Best regards, Ezra.
