Is Starling Business bank account any good?
Hi everyone. So I’ve been with Barclays since the beginning of my ltd company and had no bigger issues with them. But I’m not happy with my Lloyds personal current account and after some searches I’m thinking to switch to Starling. I saw that they also do business bank account too which is highly rated among people, also here on the forum I saw lots of positive comments about them. And it’s free, no monthly fees whatsoever - I believe they are able to do this as they have no branches that cost fortune to other hight street banks.
And now… I read in some older threads that Amazon accept Starling for payments and deposit but can anyone confirm that there are no issues with changing from big Barclays to Starling? Considering to save around 100 pounds a year and not sure if it’s worth the hassle.
Many thanks

There was a thread i think a couple of months back where several people reported having issues with using Starling as their disbursement method. You may wish to have a read through to see how it ended as I can’t remember.
Personally, I use a Starling personal current account now for all of my everyday spending and their sole trader account for all of my business transactions. The sole trader account is linked to Amazon (and eBay, Shopify, PayPal, etc. etc.) for all disbursements and charges and I have never had an issue. I’m very happy with them. Been using them for a few years now.

We switched last year from an high street bank to Starling Business. No issues with receiving amazon payments - this has been great decision for us. Verification process of the new account took only a few hours. Please note that Starling Business does not have a credit card like Barclays, which Amazon additionally requires. But for this extra deposit method (only for security reasons or incase you go minus on your amazon sales and ads) you can even use your personal credit card or keep Barclays Business Credit Card.

Been with Starling for several years for limited company, personal and joint bank accounts and couldn’t have asked for a better service. We switched from Santander and it’s the best thing we ever did. Can’t rate them highly enough. They are our charge and disbursement method here. And they’re completely free.

I rate starling really highly, the only thing I’d say is when you change, make sure there are some transactions on your bank statement before you send it for verification as I failed first time for that

Thank you so much everyone. Looks like Starling is a good choice. My last quesion is - because I’m planning to move my personal account to them as well - how to get a larger amount of cash out of my bank account if they don’t have branches - I mean a bigger amount like 1000+ pounds. Is there an option to withdraw larger amount from ATM or how to go around this? I’ve recently replaced our roof and had issues to withdraw 6000 from lloyds…

Hi there we have used Starling with Amazon with no issues, and broadly find them seemless. However where we do have challenges is when we need to do anything out of the ordinary. So paying venders overseas in any currency other than their national currency, or trying to track down issues around card payments, when the card isn’t in your name.

I used Starling for about one year, no issues everything worked very well. I then changed the business legal entity and for some bizarre reason Starling did not approve an account in the new Limited company name and to this day have not provided any reason.
I then opened an account with Virgin Money (on-line version of Clydesdale Bank) and it was approved in minutes and is just as good if not better than Starling, again no fees for on-line transactions so if you handle a lot of cash may not be right for you.

I am looking to open a Starling bank account, but do they provide a business credit card aswell? I presume a credit card is required for opening a FBA account?? Any advise is greatly appreciated

So far I’ve only open a personal banking with them and very pleased with the app and how it all works. They send you a debit card, I don;t think credit card is required for Amazon, we only have barclays debit and it all works well, no issues
