Amazon show next to the order: Signature Confirmation Recommended

Others had this before, where Amazon shows next to the order: 'Signature Confirmation Recommended'

Perhaps not noticed before, or does not happen often, but Signature Confirmation Recommended for £120 order, yet orders for far more not saying that information.

Does that mean Amazon have had issues with that Buyer, or what could cause them to add that information.

Any ideas?

@Seller_IQo80d99W2DzP Hey there! Great question about the "Signature Confirmation Recommended" notification you're seeing on Amazon. Ultimately, this recommendation is designed to protect you as a seller.

The system considers many factors beyond just buyer behavior, or the value of the item(s) being ordered. It could be related to the delivery address, the combination of order characteristics, or simply a precautionary measure. It doesn't automatically mean the buyer has had previous issues.

If you see this recommendation, you have a few options:

  • Purchase signature confirmation through your carrier when shipping the order
  • Use Amazon's Buy Shipping service - This automatically provides protection against buyer claims
  • Check the box in "Confirm Shipment" if you've purchased signature confirmation through your chosen carrier

The key benefit: If a buyer later claims they didn't receive the order and you purchased signature confirmation, Amazon's investigation team will prioritize your case, and make the determination whether or not to deny invalid NOTR claims, protecting your funds.

Feel free to keep note of this messaging on this specific order, and flag to the Seller Support team if you run into any potential issues in the future for this order. If you need further assistance in the future here after working with Support, you can follow-up on this thread with your Case ID!

2 things mainly:

(1) Choosing 'Confirm dispatch' there is no tick box that you mention. You can choose Royal Mail 1st/2nd Class Signed For, but things like Tracked 24/48 do not show if signed or not.

(2) What is Signed For? - Since Covid, things have changed, most couriers had to change, but Amazon have not updated things! - with Royal Mail, it meant the Postie signed on behalf of the person accepting the item, so the photo and name meant more that signed for. Some have gone back to getting the recipient to sign, but it varies a lot. Most other couriers now just take a photo, even using Buy Shipping and using DPD means a photo with recipient name is classed as Signed For (as only the delivery driver electronically signs. GPS location has been added, etc as well on many deliveries.

Amazon own deliveries are virtually never signed for.

Hi @Seller_IQo80d99W2DzP,

I am Arish from Amazon Seller Community team. You're absolutely right that the delivery landscape has evolved significantly since COVID.

Regarding the checkbox in Confirm Shipment: Amazon's interface was designed for traditional signatures, and modern proof-of-delivery methods (photo + GPS + timestamp) now provide equivalent verification that works effectively with Amazon's protection mechanisms. The key benefit remains - when you indicate signature confirmation was used, Amazon's investigation team performs additional buyer account checks and makes claims eligible for appeals. Keep records of your delivery confirmation type - if claims arise, you'll have strong evidence.

If you encounter any issues with this specific order, please raise a case with Seller Support and share your Case ID here for follow-up.

A-Z Claims do not seem to realise this. You lose an A-Z Claim unless you have a traditional signature, even if GPS and photo provided as proof.

Also, where is the tick box to show on a signed service, other than Buy Shipping 1st/2nd class letter post, the others do not show such. Eg Royal Mail Tracked 24 - it does not have a separate box to be ticked when added signed for service used.

Check out our order 205-1724885-1633134 that went to an A to Z which we lost.

it all the modern day proof-of-delivery methods (photo + GPS + timestamp + tracking) yet it was denied, appealed and still denied.

We proved beyond all reasonable doubt that the package was delivered but just on the fact that it was a large letter that was delivered through the lettebox there was no signature.

Amazon will only act on a signature which in this day and age is defunct

@Seller_IQo80d99W2DzP, When you confirm a shipment in Seller Central (outside of Amazon Buy Shipping), you'll see a signature confirmation checkbox in the "Confirm Shipment" widget. This checkbox appears for all carriers and shipping services—including Royal Mail Tracked 24.

When purchasing your shipping label, make sure to select the signed service option with your carrier (e.g., Royal Mail Signed For service)

Once you've purchased the label with signature confirmation, check the signature confirmation box when confirming the shipment in Seller Central

There isn't a separate checkbox for each individual shipping service (like Royal Mail Tracked 24 vs. 1st Class vs. 2nd Class)

The checkbox is universal—it covers all signature/signed-for services across all carriers

If you still have any issues, we recommend you to reach out Seller Support team by creating a case so they can assist you further.

Thanks,

Abbie

It does not matter, even with a signature a claim will be upheld for the customer. Sellers would be a lot happier if the policies where adhered to, instead we are told 'what to do' but when we do it makes no difference at all, other than we have paid extra for a signature service that is worhless for in its intended purpose,

It does not matter, even with a signature a claim will be upheld for the customer. Sellers would be a lot happier if the policies where adhered to, instead we are told 'what to do' but when we do it makes no difference at all, other than we have paid extra for a signature service that is worhless for in its intended purpose,
