Can't seem to create a parent listing
Hi guys,
I hope you can help with this as I am pulling my hair out trying to figure it out.
We sell thermal labels on Amazon and have recently expanded to France.
Our child ASINs are: B09DQ45ZFC and B0949B5BGJ. In the UK, these are successfully combined using a parent ASIN (B09MZSSRRZ).
When we set up shop in France, we transferred our listings using the Build International Listings tool. Both child ASINs for the thermal labels were successfully transferred over.
However, if I try to create a new parent listing on our French marketplace to combines the two children:
- The new parent listing status is ‘Inactive’
- If I try to edit the new parent listing, the following error appears:
“This SKU has an inconsistent product classification with the ASIN. Please submit a feed to update this SKU to match the ASIN product classification.”
I’ve tried all sorts to fix this.
I’ve tried creating the parent under a different category (for example, as ‘Address Labels’ instead of ‘General Labels’). The trouble with this is, I cannot remember the original category the listing was created under in the UK. And, in any case, the category selections seem to be different in France than the UK.
I’ve checked and double checked all of the information on the parent listings are correct (eg brand name, manufacturer, etc).
I’ve even spoken to various freelancers. One said they could fix the issue but wanted $150. Another did a zoom meeting but looked dodgy as heck and wanted access to my entire account (lol).
Hope you can help

Have you tried relisting these by uploading a flatfile in the relevant marketplace.
Even if not successful, you would be able to check the error file and if the category is wrong, it will show you the category it is inconsistent with. You would then change the category name and upload it again which should then work.

Apolgoies for the late reply.
It’s my first time uploading a flatfile. I’ve just watched a few tutorial videos.
Would I need to delete my current listings for the product before uploading the flatfile with the parent and child ASINs?
I have a lot of inventory for these ASINs with Amazon FBA. If I do need to delete the listings, I’m assuming they’ll become ‘stranded’ but then I can claim that inventory back under my name?

Very sorry I didn’t detail all of the various attempts I have made to fix this to avoid the post becoming too lengthy, but yes I have already tried doing as Amazon have suggested
Regarding the issue with more than one parent:
I do not have any other parents - I only had the two child ASINs in my inventory until I uploaded my first flatfile as above, now I have one parent with one of the child ASINs attached and the other child ASIN is orphaned
As it stands:
Parent ASIN = B0BBD4QSVF
Child ASIN (500 labels) = B0949B5BGJ (attached to the above parent)
Child ASIN (1000 labels) = B09DQ45ZFC (orphaned)
Actually I’ve just checked and the latter ASIN has dissapeared from inventory. So here we go on another 10 hour trip to fix a presumably trivial issue…
Regarding the brand name issue, I have tried using ‘Generic’ as suggested by Amazon (unsure why it is assigned this in their catalogue) but this brings about a plethora of new weird and wonderful errors. From the top of my head, one of the errors is that ‘I am not allowed to list this brand’.
