Ordered today and requested a refund as said not got the item
Hi
Just had a request for refund. The buyer ordered today (Saturday) and I dispatched this morning by tracked mail.
He then sent a request saying no longer needed. When I asked what the issue was he said he doesn’t need it as had not received the item yet…
Whilst returns are fine and I do generally accept them to open up a return request before even got the item surely cant be right and surely Amazon needs to start penalizing buyers like this

Simply accept the request as a change of mind return, and if/when the item is returned by the buyer refund.
You are not obliged to pay for the return transit [always assuming the item is not shoes clothing or Jewellery]

Respond to him with a factual reply, saying he cannot possibly have received it as only just ordered this morning, and that, as per Amazon’s T & Cs, he can return the item and you will issue a full refund once you have received the item back, in the same condition as when sent.
(as it is a change of mind return you are NOT responsible for his return costs - depending on what the item is, but I would not mention that in your message !)

Buyers can request a return anytime, as their order can no longer be cancelled once it went through.
Sellers are required to process all return requests within no more than 48 hours.
The order is eligible to be returned, so simply authorize it without any unnecessary delays and wait to receive the item back before issuing any refunds.

Personally I wouldnt have questioned the return - it was stated ‘no longer needed’, that should’ve been the end of it. There was no need to ask why it wasnt needed any longer. Its the buyers perogative, they dont have to justify it.

Some sellers have discovered that they lose on average 30% on returns, this includes fees and outbound shipping costs.

Sorry if this is hijacking the topic a little, but I have a quick question about refunds and returns.
I have a customer who did not receive delivery as they were not in every time the courier came. After they refused to go to the pick-up depot they wanted to cancel.
When the item came back here I issued a full refund, but more than a week later they are still giving me grief asking for a refund.
All I can think is that they did not make a return request (as they never received it), does a refund work without a return request? Or is it just Amazon holding back funds, or the customer not telling the truth?
