Fake reviews - competitor sabotage
Hello,
I am writing to request the opportunity to speak directly with a moderator regarding a case of fake and malicious reviews.
Two of our products have recently received two verified-purchase reviews that were left in bad faith by the owner of a competing business selling similar products. The reviews are excessively harsh, factually incorrect, and are intended solely to damage our product’s reputation rather than provide genuine feedback.
We have substantial evidence directly linking the reviews to this competitor, including:
An invoice in the competitor’s real name confirming the purchase - he is the only individual who has purchased both products together, making him the only person able to leave two verified-purchase reviews on both listings, and the reviews are exactly the same
Proof that the reviewer is the owner of a rival business selling books on the same subjects
Evidence showing the reviews were posted the same day the books were delivered, making it impossible for the content to have been read properly
Unfortunately, the automated reporting forms do not allow attachments or detailed evidence, which makes it impossible to properly explain the situation through standard channels.
I would greatly appreciate the chance to share this documentation with a moderator so the case can be reviewed fairly and in line with platform policies regarding review abuse and competitor sabotage.

Hello @Seller_6zYWw4XoqdEPS,
I understand the situation you are experiencing with the suspected fake reviews from a competitor.
Have you contacted our Seller Support team about this case? If so, please share your case ID so I can review this further and provide additional support. If you haven't opened a case yet, please reach out to Seller Support first, as they can investigate the evidence you've gathered and take appropriate action.
Additionally, you can report the reviews using the official Amazon reporting tools:
- Use the "Report abuse" link directly next to each review on the product's detail page
- Email community-help@amazon.com with the review URLs and your evidence
Kind regards,
-Josh

The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) have been investigating Amazon's practices in relation to it tackling fake reviews.
Infact in an Undertaking accepted by Amazon in June 2025, "Amazon has committed to tough sanctions for businesses that boost their star ratings via bogus reviews or catalogue abuse, and users who post fake reviews."
Although I can't provide external links or email addresses here, if you search online you will find the CMA’s email address, where you can submit your evidence and explain the situation. While the CMA will not intervene in individual Amazon cases, reports like this help regulators identify systematic abuse of review systems.
