Royal Mail Tracked 48 error on Buy Shipping? Could someone please check their dates.

Could someone please check their dates that Royal Mail Tracked 48 is showing on Amazon Buy Shipping. Every parcel order I am trying to dispatch is only allowing me to select Tracked 24. Tracked 48 is saying "Does not meet promised delivery date - Fri 22 Nov". Strangely standard 48 CRL is giving Wed 20th Nov as promised delivery date. So basically Tracked 48 is taking two days longer than standard CRL! Surely this must be an error.

Thanks

Just head to Click & Drop and get your labels there. No restrictions.

Same issue here. I've tried asking to seller support to look into it but as you can guess it's like talking to a brick wall. Open a case and hopefully if enough people say something it will eventually get picked up by a competent person.

I've sent screenshots of Tracked 48 and Tracked 48 LBT showing different times, despite being the same service. It appears to only be affecting parcels.

If I had to guess, Amazon is padding delivery times due to the snow forecast for this week.

Had the same this morning, I just manually entered it into click and drop then pasted the tracking number over.

It'll probably ruin my VTR, Amazon will treat me as criminal for this, haul me in front of the MD to explain myself, and apologise profusely to all involved, then, for no reason at all they will refund the customer (and a few others for good measure) then suspend my listing, change half the listing details on it to something totally irrelevant, move it to a group heading which is nothing to do with my product then finally suspend me and ask for VAT registration and proof of address which they will claim are false.

Maybe try adjusting your stated shipping times for the next week or so? (If it's likely to be down to the predicted weather conditions.)

This happens quite a lot.

Amazon uses data from Royal Mail to work out delays in shipping service/area etc and then adjusts promised delivery dates accordingly.

You are correct Tracked 48 parcels are actually prioritised by Royal Mail over CRL48 parcels - but Amazon is using statistics. As most parcels are still sent CRL48 it skews the results. For example, 1000 CRL48 parcels are sent and 5 are delayed and delivered after the 2 day delivery window. This is a percentage of 0.5%. Now if 100 Tracked48 parcels are sent and just 5 are delayed - this is 5%. Amazon say oh look Tracked48 has 5% delayed this service cannot meet its obligation so stops you sending Tracked48 - but CRL48 only has 0.5% delayed so is ok to use.

Its a barmy system - and one of the reasons (amongst others) I stopped using Buy Shipping on Amazon and now just use Click & Drop.

This has been happening for many many many (did I mention many) years!

I have raised with SS and they give generic replies. Basically saying RM Tracked 48 is not a guaranteed delivery by the date shown to the Buyer, ignoring nor is CRL 48.

Even spoke to an Account Manager long ago, and they are aware, but the ones at the Top at Amazon somehow think Tracked 48 is virtually never good enough for a 2-day delivery, and sometimes not even ok for a 3-day delivery, when somehow Standard 48 is ok. (If you alter to a 3 to 5 day delivery, then Tracked 48 is usually accepted ok).

Amazon track Tracked 48 and if RM take more than 2 days, for anything I think over 1% of parcels, then it is not ok for a 2-day delivery, and the same if you show a 3 day delivery, so if over a certain % (not sure on the %) take longer than 3 days to deliver, they make you use Tracked 24 instead.

They track per postcode it is shipped from and delivered to.

With Standard CRL 48, they seem to work on 3 days, as not tracked when shipped, only at the point of delivery.

It is also a real pain that FBM are penalised, compared to FBA, who work on the basis FBA is always a 1-day delivery and FBM using the same courier can sometimes be 2 days or longer as the courier was late delivering, which we have no control over (using Buy Shipping).

There are only 5 options:

1: Use CRL 48 - no insurance, but most get there ok, and tracked at the point of delivery (add a nice sticker to remind the Postie to scan the parcel).

2: Use Evri, as likely cheaper and still fully tracked (insurance £20 sometimes!).

3: Send using RM Tracked 24 (Buy Shipping) - most get there faster, get a better rate from RM if used more.

4: Use C&D RM Tracked 48 - but if it does not arrive on time, then you can get penalised more (A-Z refunds, etc), but if it allows 3 days, most get there ok. If 2-days, then likely many may not get there, as RM count that as a 2 to 3 day delivery Aim, and 5 days maximum (average), and only can claim if delivery takes more than 15 days.

5: Too late for any existing orders, but choose the shipping setting as: AUTOMATED RM Tracked 48 - so you allow Amazon to estimate the delivery date to each Buyer, then you 'should' be able to use Buy Shipping Tracked 48 each time. Then if any late, as long as you used Buy Shipping Tracked 48, and shipped on time, no bad feedback, they say! (You can do the same with AUTOMATED Tracked 24).
