Amazon is encouraging Fraudulent false claims of non-delivery by dishonest buyers.

Amazon is encouraging Fraudulent false claims of non-delivery by dishonest buyers.

We purchase Royal Mail Letter post labels through Amazon for many low-value small items. They are not trackable but are permitted. The issue is Amazon send out an email ten days after purchase telling the buyer it may be lost and they are entitled to a refund. Fraudulent buyers hoping for a freebie do claim in response even if the order has been received. We do email the buyer and the majority of the time the buyer will back down and the parcel suddenly appears!

This is unnecessary for Amazon to send such a notification. Has anyone else had this issue?

Yes, we are getting this daily.

You can spot them straight away as they'll often contact with only the auto-generated message written by Amazon chat bot.

Remove any emotion from your repose. I respond "Thank you for your message. Your order arrived XXXX. Best regards, XXXX"

Report the buyer message "for attempting to deceive or defraud..."

80% will not respond back, a handful respond with "I only messaged because Amazon told me to contact you" and even just click "Yes, resolved" on your reply and you get the little green box appear on the message window.

I do this reply regardless if the tracking shows delivered or not. Genuine communication would be sooner that 10 days.

Totally agree.

What I do is will always go back stating that we have confirmed delivery on our reports. This then usually ceases 80% of the dishonest ones.

I get many of these a day for items I post by letter. I do reply back to customers and challenge them and mostly never hear from them again and only occasionally do they go to an A-Z

I brought something on Amazon and it was sent by Letter Post a couple of weeks ago and it is now showing as Lost.

For my more expensive items I have upgraded to tracked on most of these. I now rarely get an INR on these.

The only thing to be aware of with Letter Post is Royal Mails performance. Sometimes items take up to 2 weeks to be delivered and this can cause some of the INR's, however mostly it is just Amazon telling customers it is lost that triggers the message.

Yes we also get lots of these. I send everything RM 2nd Class standard (unless the cost of goods is more than say £20, then I will send tracked).

Letter / Large Letter are hit and miss if the Postie actually scans the item on delivery, but the majority of mine are small parcel size <2kg. In my experience, most of these do get a delivery scan.

As others have said, I just send them a tracking hyperlink confirming the delivery, and suggest they should check with their neighbours / other household members. Most of the time I do not hear from them again, or they contact me having miraculously found their parcel.

Touch wood, and I have just completed 1 year of Amazon selling, I have not had a single A-Z and I have shipped 900 parcels to date.

We also share your frustration with the automated messages to customers which turns mostly honest people into shoplifters. I believe they think they are getting a freebee from Amazon and not small businesses.

When I saw some of my orders (as a buyer) say "your package may be lost" when the seller simply used an untracked service (or the postie didn't scan it, which often happens), I thought that probably shouldn't be worded this way... from a buyer's perspective. I did not claim non-delivery of course (as a buyer), but I suspect many others would.

Amazon would not be so quick to do this if it were Amazon's money!

The irony of this is that we are meant to be protected from ODR defects with Amazon shipping yet they are contacting all my 2nd class post customers and informing them of delays or lost items on Royal Mail 2nd class Post that they provide the label for and have a scan on delivery code they can check, I suspect this is there way to get us all on a tracked service they can easily monitor, Amazon is a control freak that wants us all to relinquish our controls to them

Same happens here, I just can't understand why they send them. Just encoure customers to try their luck. Absolutely ridicilious, just wondering what kind of STUPID people running Scamazon.

post.you aren't on your own. We pull our hair out at the way we was sellers are treated by Amazon. It Is unjust that Amazon refund buyers before we've even had the product returned.

yep, i posted exactly the same message a few months back. No idea why Amazon even send the message out, it's pointless. I don't think most customers need to be told if their package has not arrived, they will know anyway. It is my biggest single ask of Amazon to stop sending these messages, but they don't appear to listen/care. It's really disappointing and will lead to me closing my business eventually.
