Dishonest buyers

My customer has opened a retun for a £3.80 item item and lied in order to get free return postage - She has purchased curtain weights and stated they “don’t work or are defective” They are 12g curtain weights used in curtain making, small square, fabric covered weights. They are exactly and described and are not defective in any way.

I have contacted her asked why they are defective and await her reply.

She should be paying for the return - How do I go about reporting this buyer and claiming the return postage back?

Thank you all for your help

Wasting your time. The buyer has reported as “dont work or defective” and (regardless of whether they are or not) that is the position Amazon will take. Accept the return and move on because, if you don’t, she will open an A-Z and you will automatically get a defect, she will get refunded AND she will get to keep the goods. Simply not worth it for such a tiny amount. Take it on the chin and move on.

A tip for the future; add 5% to all of your prices to cover the cost of such returns in future.

Don’t even go there and don’t send the buyer any more messages as Amazon will take a dim view of that too. This is all part and parcel of the rich tapestry of selling on Amazon. Every seller here will have experienced a similar situation, on numerous occasions, whereby a buyer claims an item is defective in order to get free return postage.

You can open a safe-t claim once the item has been returned of course under the incorrect return code used (provide pictures I assume showing there is no issue with the goods and they do indeed weigh down curtains) amazon may reject the claim, but it’ll only cost you your time (of course only you can decide if the time to put the claim in is worth £3.45 you’ll get back)

This stuff always hurts. Like retro has pointed out for such a small amount I would just take it on the chin. I get hit with instances like this where all collectable cards are taken out of booster boxes and I get just the packing back.

I hate to say it but it’s all part of business. Amazon has definitely increased the amount of dishonest people but they give me a platform I would never have had.

Good luck going forward.

I agree with all you’ve said and I know from experience it is not worth the stress - But she has lied and Amazon are allowing this over and over again. Surely if we all just accept it as part of selling on Amazon, or by way of thanking Amazon for the sales platform, we will all end up bust.

as others have said, - Thats Amazon and Amazon customers for you.

every once in a while we look at the % of Fraudulent A-Z claims, Non delivery and the cost of the returns labels and what the % it is and adjust our prices accordingly.
Unfortunately every customer now has to pay more because of it, but that’s business.

But what get me in instances like this, everyone seems to be preaching about their carbon footprint etc, but no one [especially online shoppers] could not give a hoots about it or absolutely oblivious of what goes into a return or delivering an item

this happens to me every day when I get used as a free movie service just accept it and do not message buyers as it never ends, well usually a threat of a negative

I will also say, take it on the chin and move on. If not the buyer may report your product and get your seller account deactivated, which has happened to my account, it is been several months since I am appealing but Amazon investigation team is not accepting my plea and reactivating my account, I am stuck in this loop now very badly.

We had this the other day and we did a T-CLAIM for the first time… Wait until you get item back open a T-CLAIM under used wrong reason for free postage or something like that… We got the full amount refunded… had another one back today which was slightly damaged in transit and Amazon (already charged buyer the return postage) gave us £4.90 / £29.90 back to cover it…

You cant do much with these lot, they are no better then rats.

the other day we have sold an adidas originals hoodie.
return was requested on the day of delivery and imagine what came in return parcel, a thousand year old, sweaty, toxic, smelly Topman Sweatshirt in our adidas hoodie packing and product tags.
we have denied a refund. Report the situation to Amazon with evidence. customer opened an a2z claim, YES you are right she got all the money and we got a defect.

Now you have ugly paleteeth, homeless hooligans all over amazon robbing you off your hard-earned money.

Best of luck.
