Answer for people who use a franking machine
So after 100s of messages back and forth, i finally have a clarified answer.
If you have a franking machine, just choose “Stamps/Franking” as your postage choice. This is exempt from VTR.
Notice this is newly added and different to the old one which was “Royal Mail 2nd Class Stamps/Franking”, do NOT choose that one, that is ONLY if you pay for postage through amazon.
Here is the specific line i got from seller support
“Therefore if you do not want to deliver in 1 or 2 days and your order is only a letter-sized products, you can use Stamps/Franking and will be exempted from VTR calculations.”
I then double checked and asked another agent to confirm this is correct advice.
If you want to check yourself, feel free to ask seller support on a webchat.
This is the first time I have managed anything resembling a straight answer from them.

Where were you told this ?
It’s always been there
It’ll be interesting to see if this is correct or not
Please keep the thread updated and check your vtr defect report in about 2 to 3 weeks for them
Edit, you could amend your old ones today to stamps/franking and they should change on the report in 72 hours , you’d know sooner that way

i would be very very cautious with responses from SS compared to official news articles from amazon in relation to VTR. as reported many sellers VTR has dropped like stone recently
SS use allot of copy and past answers and this may well be another one where they have not been updated to reflect policy.
another thread pointed out SS said the UK was part of the EU.
Do please keep us posted and updated though if this works,

I’m going to assume the seller support agents’ wheel of responses needs an update.
As others have said, keep us updated - but I’d feel fairly certain the information you’ve received is incorrect.

why are amazon postage rates more then 30% then our franking rates. I only send large letter 2ed class for £5-£30 pay amazon fees and also seller subscription and still they take more. is it not about providing the best service for the customer and keeping costs down to be competitive. My account was restricted because i was using stamp/franking. does anyone have a way that we can use our own franking machine?
