Legal Entity Nightmare
I have been selling with Amazon for a number of years. At the beginning of January I was due funds to be transferred but the date kept being pushed back and that the Pay Me option was unavailable. I received no correspondence from Amazon regarding this and it was only through me investigating why my account was on hold. First of all I was told that I had to validate my bank details. This was done, albeit slowly but then I received messages saying my legal entity needed changing. I have been told on different occasions that I can have an individual entity and then I have to have a business legal entity. As you can imagine very confusing and as for Amazon support, as much use as a chocolate fire guard. I am registered with HMRC as I am self employed with another job. If I chose uk sole proprietor it asks for a company registration number which I do not have. Please can anyone help with this incredibly frustrating situation.

@Seller_uOeKBo7OQ3ChH - You can ONLY be registered as Individual legal entity if you are selling off your own, personally owned second-hand items, such as books, CDs,DVDs etc. Individual legal entity cannot be used for selling NEW goods, for which you must have a Business Seller Account. I am not sure if you can use the same UTR that you already have for your other business ?? - maybe not if it is a completely different type of business ??
You can only give a company registration number if you are registered with Companies House as a Ltd. company. I seem to remember another seller was asked for company reg. no even though not a Ltd. ADon't know what the outcome of that was ?
As a sole-proprietor they should accept your UTR. Not sure if any of that helps ?

If you are self-employed in the UK and not running a limited company, the correct structure is usually Individual or Sole Proprietor. In that case you should not need a company registration number your full legal name, address and tax information (UTR if requested) should normally be sufficient.
Sometimes the form asks for a company number because the account was previously set up as a business entity. If that’s the case, you may need to update the legal entity type in Account Info → Business Information so that it matches your HMRC registration.
Also double-check that your bank account name exactly matches the legal name on the Amazon account, because mismatches can keep payouts on hold.
