Anyone have recent experience with Amazon Accelerator programme?
Hi everyone,
We have been invited to join the Amazon Accelerator programme for our brand which we launched in 2019 and have been working hard to make it successful. They say they will take over the marketing and give you the best placements in exchange for being exclusive to Amazon but in the T&Cs they state they reserve the right to acquire the brand for a very small sum of money if they choose to acquire it which makes us very nervous indeed ! They say they haven’t acquired any brands to date but that’s not to say they won’t do it in future if they decide they now want to own your brand.
That aside am looking to see if anyone out there has something positive to say about the programme from recent experience where it has really helped your brand grow and get exposure and you are having success working with Amazon helping you expand globally ?
Or have you had a really bad experience with this programme and want to share that so we can learn from that ?
Just looking for honest feedback from other sellers as my amazon contact won’t be able to tell me the “real” likelihood of success of using this programme so looking for some external validation to help us assess whether it’s a genuine help to the business or are we best to leave this “opportunity” well alone…

I’m no legal expert by any means, but are you absolutely sure that you are understanding, this right to acquire the brand correctly?
From the way you describe it, it doesn’t sound legal at all. The only way that they have any right to acquire a brand from someone else, is if you give them the right. It certainly can’t be forced.
And if it is actually correct, there is no way in hell, I would give up that right and would strongly advise that you don’t.
If this program works well and you quadruple your sales due to it, they are just going to step in, give you a fiver and walk away with your work…
