Obvious Spelling Error - Amazon Won't Correct
Pulling my hair out here.
The book I have listed can’t be found in search as the title is spelt incorrectly.
As you can see Anonymous is spelt annoymous. I am on 4th attempt to get it corrected, but, even though I have supplied a photo of the book, Amazon won’t budge. Latest e-mail from them -
Thank you for providing the image of the book. However, as it does not have a barcode visible on it, we cannot use it as a proof.
Kindly write back to us with the following proofs so that we can go ahead and assist you further:
1. Manufacturer;s link
2. Image of the product with barcode visible on it
3. Product manual.
Awaiting your response
I have politely pointed out that it’s a book and therefore doesn’t have a barcode, product manual or manufacturer’s link.

This is correct. If you don’t have the listing control, Amazon will keep responding back and demanding that you provide them proof supporting your desired updates, such as a link to the manufacturer’s website or image clearly showing the product identifier.
By barcode, they are referring to the ISBN code. Simply provide a picture of the book where it is visible.

Hi Carol,
Thanks for your post.
In the case you have open can you upload an image of the back of the book too please? I will see what I can do from my side once that has been added but I can’t make any promises but I will try and help.
Thanks,
Jessica

I have tried on countless occasions to get Amazon to amend faulty listings but SS and the catalogue team are so so pedantic. On one occasion they wanted proof, so I sent a photo of the box end that showed all of the details they required but they still refused to help change the listing.
On another occasion they wanted me to contact a multi-national organisation and demand they proove that they owned the EAN code that was showing on the packaging, just because Amazon had no record of the EAN code.
It would not be so bad if they actually read the case file but with the replies I can see they don’t.

Presumably it doesn’t have a barcode because it was published in 1968, before barcodes for books existed?!
{barcodes didn’t come into general use until the 1980s}
It’s almost beyond belief that Amazon doesn’t have guidelines for SS that would tell them how to deal with updates for pre-ISBN and pre-barcode books.

"I have politely pointed out that it’s a book… "
I’ve given up being polite!! Good manners seem to get you no-where, so sarky & b-minded is more my style nowadays.
What is so irritating is not being able to ask for a correction until the book is in your inventory - so blatant errors like spelling mistakes remain uncorrected
