Amazon started charging tax for their Fulfillment fee and commissions?
Hi,
I usually do my own separate tracking of my sales in a excel file and i checked that the balance in amazon was less than what i calculated in my excel for this week.
After one hour back and forth i checked in the transaction view that starting day 17, each unit was giving me less net proceeds, i then opened a specific order to check it out and i saw that amazon started out of nowhere charging me additional tax for commission and fba fulfillment fee per unit… something like 57 cents total per unit in UK and 99 cents in France and my profit in UK was a little higher than 1 pound, now i will have almost no profit with these taxes. I confirmed more than twice that i never got charged these taxes before…
My questions before contacting Amazon Seller Support are:
- Is it just me or does anyone else have additional tax being charged since day 17 or 18?
- Is there any reasonable explanation for this new tax?
It is not enough that sales have much dropped these couple of months almost to nothing and now new taxes are appearing out of nowhere… so frustrating!
Any help is much appreciated! Thanks

Where are you seeing the tax? My transactions don’t show anything different. Also what it the tax for, is it VAT?

Hi,
I opened a case on 16th May when it started appearing on all our orders in the UK & Germany. This is after over 2 years of selling on both platforms using FBA.
Still awaiting a reply…

Amazon are switching to UK based invoicing, because of Brexit. Therefore VAT will be charged to everyone on all services and fees eventually.
Only intra-EU B2B transactions are VAT exempt, if you have a valid and verifiable VAT number, at present, while we’re still members of the EU.
Do you pay VAT to every other company in the UK you buy from? Amazon are becoming that other UK company too.

Assuming you are VAT registered VAT on FBA fees/commission/PPC should all be reclaimable, no?

No Barry, these were German sales from a German warehouse.
Time will tell in the next day or two to see if all orders have reverted back to how they were before.
All good “fun” lol

I think this has been going on for a while now as I was chasing up orders that I had been overcharged on fees and the breakdown was explained to me then. This was back in March.
