VAT registration for verification!
Hi
I am in the middle of the verification process, I am the sole trader and earning less than 85k per year, after a month of trying to get verified by amazon asking for multiple documents this time they asked me to provide the VAT registration certificate, but I don’t have one due to not hitting the threshold, they delayed my verification process now, any experience of this can anyone provide some more information ?
BTW, I am based in the UK and planning to only sell in the UK,

Have you put any non UK addresses on your account?
Can you post the notifications from amazon?

Are you registered with HMRC as self-employed sole-trader ? (or ltd or partnership), and have a Business Seller account on Amazon for which you have supplied your UTR ?
If you are UK resident and below the threshold then you do not need to be VAT registered - though it seems they think there is a reason you should be ??? - I would query that.

Hello @K9XOR,
This is Noor from Amazon to assist you.
We understand our issue here. We’d recommend that you raise a case with selling support team and provide all the details like how you’ve exempted yourself from VAT but have received email requesting for VAT documents
You can do so from here.

If you need any further assistance, you can post here so that we or any of the sellers on forum can help you.
Regards,
Noor

The threshold also only applies if you are ‘normally’ resident in the UK.

According to companies house… Nationality: Iranian
If the passport or documents that you’ve provided to Amazon are Iranian, then they’ll probably also assume that you have NETP status by default. You might have to try and convince them if it definitely doesn’t apply.

Iran isn’t on the accepted countries list so if amazon thought the OP might be resident there presumably they would refuse the account anyway

Hi everyone,
just wanted to give some updates regarding the matter. so it may be helpful for others if they face such a problem.
after multiple conversations with SS, I have managed to get an email for the VAT team and sent them an email describing the situation, I have also sent an email to the verification team which they replied, now the section in my business entity has been closed and they removed VAT requirement, but VAT team emailed back asked for my proof of address, and some other documents which I have already uploaded in my seller central during verification. so I am not sure what is going on but looks like we are getting somewhere.
I believe it is more helpful to reply to the verification team’s email directly rather than speaking with SS as it seems non get fixed.
I will keep you all updated once the matter is fixed.
