We sell a product (FBA) that is oversized -- packages can range from 26" x 26" to 51" x 26", and weights can range from 21 lbs to 45 lbs. Over the past 30 days, we have had about 11 orders refunded for the reason "shipping address undeliverable". We'll be opening a case to investigate this, but I'm not optimistic we'll get past the bots to get any real answers.
I'm wondering if the boxes are too large to leave at the customers' addresses due to the fact they are apartments. (I can't see the complete address so I really don't know.) Then I assume a notice would be left and the box would go to the shipper's local warehouse/facility for customer pick-up? It would make sense if they were all one shipping company, but they are evenly split between USPS, UPS, and Amazon Logistics.
I don't suspect buyer fraud as it's a commodity kind of item, not highly desirable unless you actually need it, and not the type of thing you could make money reselling.
Has anyone here experienced a similar high rate of undeliverable addresses? Is there any way to mitigate this?
