Updates to FBA Small and Light requirements
We are aligning FBA Small and Light requirements with standard FBA. These changes are detailed below.
Bundling requirement change
Effective immediately, the bundling of Small and Light units is no longer required. You can now send in your inventory as standard FBA.
Bundling will no longer be allowed starting June 1, 2021. As of this date, same-ASIN units cannot be bundled together when the Amazon barcode or the total number of sellable units is on the outside of the packaging. Examples of such packaging include the following:
- Bag
- Manufacturer case pack
- Seller case pack
If products are shipped with a barcode on the outside of the packaging rather than on individual items, the bundle may be incorrectly scanned as a single unit. This shipping defect can delay receiving.
For more information, refer to Preparing Product Units for Fulfilment by Amazon.
Amazon barcode requirement in the UK and Germany
Effective June 1, 2021, each individual unit will require an Amazon barcode in the UK and Germany for Small and Light. This requirement already exists for France, Italy and Spain.
To learn how to print and apply the barcodes yourself, download How to label products. You can also sign up for the FBA Label Service to have Amazon apply the labels for you.
The label service is currently free for products that are enrolled in the UK and Germany, and 0.09€ per unit for products that are enrolled in France, Italy and Spain. Any fee changes will be announced in advance.
For more information, refer to FBA product barcode requirements.
Adhering to shipping and packaging requirements will help you to avoid unplanned prep services and delays in receiving your inventory.

It’s not a good change at all.
The small and light program is for small items that are sold on mass at a large scale.
having to add a barcode sticker now to over 2000 units per week is going to kill me and make shipment creation 10x more time consuming.
I know it’s free for Amazon to do this for now (barcoded products only). But undoubtedly that will change soon too to match other European countries.
It’s just unneeded friction and not fit for the purpose of the S&L program.

Given the nature of Small and Light, and that it is possible there will be hundreds of units of several different ASINs in one box, do Amazon really want the extra work of sorting them by type if they all get mixed up because they have been packaged loose?

Can you confirm, please… re the bolded word, are they allowed to be bundled together if the Amazon barcode or total number of sellable units ISN’T on the outside?

This is a total nightmare and causes me hours (and hours!) of extra work and takes up an enormous amount of space in the Amazon warehouse. I used to be able to send in 156 units in a box that was 17cm x 16cm x 15cm. Now to send in the same units I have to bag them in individual labelled bags and I need to send them in a box that’s 36 x 27x 26cm- it’s double the size for storage for the warehouse.
Making us label each individual tiny item doubles our workload, doubles our courier costs and doubles the space needed in the warehouse. I cannot see how this benefits anyone- Amazon or the sellers.
So stressful and expensive

I take it that any stock currently sat in an Amazon warehouse is OK ?

This is ridiculous! Amazon have really being trying hard to hack of it’s sellers recently haven’t they! So for thousands of items I know need to label every single one? Excellent Amazon, nice thinking it really makes small and light worth the whole ordeal doesn’t it (NOT).
I can’t even pay Amazon more money to label them for me as my products are handmade and are not barcoded. I think I might revert to seller fulfilled via Royal Mail as I do this myself for a lot of my personalised products anyway…

Hi,
do they really mean that fnsku label must be added to each item ?
or will the manufacturers barcode do?
having clicked through to all help topics it remains unclear to me
Seller_6sxtIS0RbZ5k7
I will need an FNSKU attached to it before it goes into stock but you have the option of sending it in with the FNSKU already attached, or sending it in with manufacturer barcode and Amazon attaching the FNSKU for you.
Whichever way, it will only move around the FC with an FNSKU.
