Cyprus not supported country?
Hello, just trying to setup my account
I am Turkish Cypriot, so from Cyprus and I am Turkish
My address is in Turkish
I have received an email from amazon ‘‘Lefkosa is currently not a supported country for seller registration.’’
But Lefkosa is Turkish for Nicosia (Capital of Cyprus) (City)
Lefkosa is not a country it is city.
I have checked Cyprus is listed as supported country for Amazon sellers
I dont know what I should do
Thanks

Are you in Northern Cyprus, a “state” which is only recognised by Turkey? As I am sure you know, Nicosia is a divided city. Lefkosa in the North, Nicosia in the Republic of Cyprus.
I know there a few Turkish Cypriots living in the South but I guess you are in the north.
Whenever you see “Cyprus” in any publication, regulations, etc, it means the Republic of Cuprus. Again, the North is not a recognised state.
So, that’s the reason. Maybe your previous leaders shouldn’t have invaded the island all those years ago.

There is conflicting info going around.
Nicosia- English
Λευκωσία- Greek
Lefkosa- Turkish
They all mean the same, capital of Cyprus
I dont want to go into deep details like island is split into two etc etc
they are all the same, they don represent different areas- or they dont mean something different.
Is there a way to contact amazon and try to explain my situation? a number to call or a way to book an appointment?
thanks

I honestly dont know I was just trying to think of reasons why Amazon would say it was a country.

But the issue is the island is split in two. It would help if we did know if you were in the North Cyprus or South Cyprus.
If North Cyprus it might be complicated as simply put, Amazon may not recognise the country for sellers. I’ve read somewhere for North Cyprus you have to put the country as Turkey in some instances.

Actually, Northern Cyprus is considered by the international community to be part of the Republic of Cyprus but in reality, it’s only a defacto state and recognised only by turkey so little chance of being on Amazon’s “acceptable” list.
