Address Verification Failures – Legitimate UK Sellers (Including Us) Wrongly Deactivated by Amazon VAT/KYC System
Dear Amazon Account Health Team and Community Managers,
This situation has now gone far beyond acceptable limits.
Our company, was abruptly deactivated on 2 October 2025 following a request from the VAT/KYC team to verify our operating business address. Within hours, we provided every single document requested, including far more evidence than required — yet we have been met with silence, automated rejections, and contradictory messages from unrelated departments.
Below is a clear timeline of events:
📅 Timeline
2 October 2025:
Received the “Submit VAT Documents to Reactivate Your Account” email from the VAT team.
Reason given: “Your provided business address is used by multiple companies.”
(Only two historic, long-dissolved companies remain listed at that address with no connection to us)
2–3 October 2025:
Submitted all required documents via the official channel — including:
• Recent utility bills in company name
• Exclusive lease confirming Our Business as the sole tenant
• Updated Companies House registration (AD01)
• Photographic evidence of operations, signage, and stock
• VAT returns with HMRC submission receipts
• Bank statements showing VAT payments
• Proof of directors’ identity and residency
In addition, as advised in the original email, we also submitted supporting evidence to seller verification review at amazon.co.uk to demonstrate that our business genuinely operates from the stated address and to differentiate Our Business from any other company previously registered there.
6 October 2025:
Received an email stating “you may not open a Selling on Amazon account,” despite full compliance and no further requests for clarification.
17 October 2025:
Received the same message again, identical in wording, confirming the case had been automatically closed without any genuine review by the VAT team.
⚠️ Current Situation
We are a fully compliant UK VAT-registered business with a turnover exceeding £2.5 million per year, employing staff, paying taxes, holding stock, and fulfilling all legal obligations.
Our account remains deactivated without a single update or contact from the VAT/KYC team who initiated the process.
Every submission is being auto-rejected within hours, often by unrelated departments (Payments or Account Health), not the team that requested verification.
The VAT team has never responded, despite multiple follow-ups and appeals sent to the official addresses.
💥 Impact
Our business has been completely shut down for over two weeks.
We are unable to trade, pay suppliers, or access company funds.
This issue — entirely outside our control — is now pushing us toward bankruptcy.
We are not alone: loads of sellers are reporting the same problem here on the forum ([@Seller_Jl0QHDp7ab1Ha, @Seller_tZT6tS8u3Ejbd, @Seller_9tmJMR4jFH8k8 , @Seller_MJsf5bYCwDZbA ,@Seller_ynXgesfGs9npl, @Seller_ge11C3SojtXiW, @Seller_WgGjHkDr4GapL, @Seller_u6LlERPU2t0ZV, @Seller_u6LlERPU2t0ZV,@Seller_j5BZQ9R1sSxT3, @Seller_HoUbIOqm9qWmj,@Seller_h2V83kHHssaDv, @Seller_9tf4M7XDRj6d2, @Seller_8A2GBSqNZDr4Q, @Seller_jnYNelDrF11J4, @Seller_D6kjCY0QHVSPC if you're one of the affected and not on this list, comment below. This needs all the attention it can get]) — and, as always, there are likely many more suffering in silence and battling a losing fight due to a stalled or automated verification process.
📢 Request
We urgently request the following:
A written update from the VAT/KYC or Payments team confirming the current status of our case.
A clear timeline for full review and reinstatement of our account.
Escalation to a senior compliance or payments officer capable of reviewing the full documentation we have already submitted.
A written explanation for the account deactivation despite full compliance and verified documents.
⚖️ Final Note
We fully support compliance and verification checks. However, this process has become opaque, unaccountable, and devastating to genuine UK businesses.
We are now considering escalating this publicly — including to UK authorities, MPs, and national media — to highlight the disproportionate harm being caused to compliant companies by what appears to be an automated or mismanaged verification system.
We built our company over four years of hard work, creating jobs, paying taxes, and supporting suppliers. Watching it collapse overnight due to an internal Amazon error — with no human review or communication — is simply unacceptable.
We urge Amazon to address this matter immediately.

On 25th October we had connected USA marketplace and we were supposed to get a disbursement on 5th Nov but got deactivated instead and funds held. we never got emails from VAT! Only the sudden deactivation.
We then clicked on reACTIVATE your account and provided all the relevant documents. which were as follows: as no other documents were asked:
Company info
Company documents
Company Bank Statement
Primary contact /beneficial owner
UK Passport
residential address
personal bank statement
Since then my DOCS and account are under review and FUNDS HAVE BEEN HELD. I can remove my inventory but sales are shut.
the latest email ALERT from Amazon came on 13 NOVEMBER saying the following:

The upload docs tab is locked and saying account is under review.

I want to state that, we have been a UK established business right from the start
HOW TO ESCALATE THIS SITUATION AND GET REVIEWED QUICKLY? AS WE NEED TO PAY THE BILLS AND SUPPLIERS AND SAVE OUR BUSINESS REPUTATION THAT WE BUILT OVER LAST 4 YEARS. MOREOVER AVOID BANKRUPTCY

I see you tagged me so I'm commenting for visibility. My £1M+ / year store got decimated by Amazon - exact same scenario as you. What's worse is that they have been holding 25,000+ units of stock hostage the entire time, not providing me any path to get them disposed or removed, and charging me storage fees on it every month. They literally want to bankrupt the company because I failed their automated verification (why did I fail? I don't know - I gave them the exact documents they asked for, meeting every criterion and all from official sources such as HMRC).
This has genuinely flipped my life upside down. Gave me depression and severe financial distress. This has been happening for 8 months now. Just automated copy and paste messages the entire time it's like no human has even looked at it. I am having to get lawyers involved to stop them from bankrupting my company with these storage fees.
My products all have an effective expiry date (1 year) - so now all of the stock has become worthless. The stock is worth £250-300K. They have the nerve to still demand storage fees from me every month after all of this when in fact they should be compensating me. This is evil.

As well as The Office of Small Business Commissioner, everyone should also raise a complaint with the Financial Conduct Authority against Amazon Payments UK Ltd. I received a response from them after a few days saying that a file has been opened against them and requesting further information.
You could also 'Make a court claim for money' on the Gov UK website.

Hi There,
We're facing the same issue. Like many sellers we got banned on the same date 5 November 2025. After deactivation Amazon didn't asked for any of the documents.
On 12th November Amazon asked for a valid proof of address which we provided immidiately. We received an email the next day which states that "Your information is verified and you can continue selling on Amazon"
We've been emailing since to Amazon and we get replies that your account is under another internal review, despite confirmation our account is not getting activated. We sell mostly seasonal products which sell at the end of the year. We're stuck with more than 100k worth of inventory.
It's really frustrating for a small business. We've tried everything possible opening tons of cases and calling amazon daily.
Still we receive the same response "Your account is under another internal review"
The business information page shows your information is verified but Amazon is not activating our account. I guess we all need to make a team and go for legal support against amazon.
In the past 20 days, we've lost over 60-80k of projected sales.
Any Amazon representative is not able to answer, We should receive a compensation for this issue. Because we'll also be charged for Removal fees and Storage fees.

@Seller_1sg6lTIYhP9am We should also try reaching local Social Media pages to raise our voice, If it's viral on social media BBC and other news channels would cover it.

Hello everyone,
We are experiencing the exact same issue, and it has become extremely exhausting.
Just like many other sellers, our Amazon account was suspended on November 5, 2025, without any warning and without any request for documents.
On November 12, Amazon requested only one document: a valid proof of address, which we submitted immediately.
Since then, every time we contact support, open a new case, or speak to Account Health representatives, we receive the same response:
“Your account is under another internal review.”
In Seller Central, the Business Verification section shows all information as verified, yet our account is still inactive and our funds remain blocked.
We are a completely legitimate business. All documents are real, all operations are legal, and we have been selling on Amazon for a long time without any violations.
This uncertainty is affecting both our business and our mental well-being.
It feels like we are stuck in a system where nobody can provide answers or solutions.
There are hundreds of sellers going through the exact same situation and receiving the same automated reply:
“Internal review in progress.”
During this time:
Our sales have completely stopped
We expect to pay storage and removal fees
Our available balance is frozen
This is not just a financial issue — it is mentally draining.
We expect Amazon to:
Provide a clear explanation
Clarify why this internal review exists
Offer a timeline and a realistic path to resolution
If anyone has successfully resolved this situation, has a contact who can help, or received legal or professional guidance — please share it.
It’s clear that this many sellers facing the same suspension at the same time is not a coincidence.
Maybe it’s time for all of us to stand together and push for answers.
Thank you.

Any sellers who are living in the UK paying proper tax in the UK and registered for VAT when threshold arrived
I believe we can definitely tackle the issue, we are physically in the UK with transparent companies. Lets act together

Has anyone here ever tried submitting a formal complaint to Amazon Payments Europe (Luxembourg)? I ve heard this can be one of the most effective escalation methods since they fall under financial regulations, but i'd like to know if anyone has real experience with this and whether it helped resolve their issue.

fINALLY THEY HAVE ANSWERED ME AFTER A MONTH, SAYING THIS. I DO NOT KNOW WHY. BUT THEY CAN NOT VERIFY MY BUSINESS!!
I SUBMITTED ALL THE DOCUMENTS THAT THEY ASKED.
THEY HAVE NOT ASKED FOR ANY FURTHER DOCS.
HOW CAN I GET BETTER SUPPORT AS ALL THE INFORMATION I PROVIDED IS 100% CORRECT, I AM UK RESIDENT AND TAX PAYER. I CAN PROVIDE FURTHER DOCS TO SUPORT MY CASE!
i have passed my USA KYC verification , !! why couldnt they confirm it in the EU?

Thank you for this thread.
You are right, loads of sellers are suffering due to this upsetting and unclear KYC process.
After a month of waiting we also got the dreaded response of failed verification despite providing all the legit information.
See below reply from AMZ:
Dear Seller,
We were unable to verify the information you provided when registering for a Selling on Amazon payment account and, as a result, your Selling on Amazon payment account could not be opened. Unfortunately, this means that you will not be able to continue to sell on Amazon.
We leveraged a combination of automated means and expert human review to identify this issue and make this decision.
Please take appropriate steps to resolve any open orders. Note that any amounts paid as a result of A-to-z Guarantee claims and chargebacks may be deducted from the balance in your existing Seller Account.
Please do not hesitate to contact Seller Support/Selling Partner Support with any questions you may have or if you believe there was an error.
Now I am not sure now, how to proceed !
Our Selling business is essentially bankrupted now.
Should I submit appeal describing the issue again and attaching all the docs (company house, VAT, bank statement, proof of address , articles etc) ?
or
Just escalate to small business support bodies/ media outlets ?
@Seller_1sg6lTIYhP9am Will appreciate If you or anybody can share contact details for FCA, business & trade bodies, or any other government body & media outlets contacts
Will appreciate your support/suggestions in any possible way.

Hi fellow Sellers and Moderators,
I am writing here to ask for suggestions from the community and requesting urgent assistance from an Amazon Forum Moderator regarding my account deactivation.
The Situation: I received a notification on 4 December stating that Amazon was unable to verify the information provided for my Selling on Amazon payment account. As a result, my payment account could not be opened, and my selling privileges have been suspended.
The Mistake: After reviewing my submission, I realized that we inadvertently uploaded the wrong document during the verification process. This was a genuine administrative error on our part.
Our Background:
We are a legitimate, fully established UK business.
We have been selling on Amazon for several years.
We have successfully passed KYC (Know Your Customer) verification multiple times in the past.
The Problem: I have the correct, valid documentation ready to upload immediately (current Companies House records, recent utility bills, vat receipts from HMRC, and bank statements, credit card statements and any other relevant document that is requested by Amazon). However, following the notification, I am unsure of the correct path to submit these new documents since the previous application was rejected and and there is no drop box option to add further documents
Request to the Community: Has anyone else had their payment account application rejected due to an incorrect file upload? How were you able to trigger a re-submission?
Request to Amazon Moderators: Could a Moderator please review my case? We simply need the opportunity to resubmit the correct documentation to prove our UK establishment. We are fully compliant and just need a path to rectify this upload error.
Case ID: yet to create an appeal through caselog \BUT i have emailed the following email addresses all of the relevant documents
kyc-drtax-verification@amazon.co.uk
vatsubmit@amazon.com
Thank you for your time and help.
