I've never heard of this before.

Are you sure the notification from Amazon is genuine?

To be honest I would suspect if HMRC had an issue they would contact you directly.

There are instances where HMRC can contact Amazon and ask them to suspend your account and stop sales if there is a question over your VAT liability. This is when Amazon is held Jointly Liable for any unpaid VAT.

You have raised a previous thread about Amazon blocking your account and not releasing funds. Is it related to that?

Is this something you were told by seller support? If so, it's just seller support not being fit for purpose, as usual.

Hello @Seller_ClXXrSNsyNxyN

This is Sarah with Amazon.

I see that you have already created several threads regarding this topic.

Please create only one thread per question. Creating duplicate threads can create confusion and disruption in the Forums and is against the Forums Guidelines.

Best regards,

Sarah.

Does not sound genuine. I was listening to the radio this morning and there was an advert regarding being careful re HMRC fraudsters.

If your companies registered office and vat address is a service address, change it to your own address and send them(amazon) a utility bill proving you live there.

I am currently going through this and had to submit thr same documents 5 times for my vat verification to go through but my account is still deactivated. I have to wait until tomorrow and then contact them again to ask why is my account still deactivated since everything else has gone through and I've had emails to say my account is now eligible to sell again.

This has been a nightmare

Hello @Seller_ClXXrSNsyNxyN,

As informed by my colleague in the previous thread, our internal team is currently reviewing your account verification. I understand they sent another performance notification to you yesterday.

Please continue working with them on providing the requested documents. To keep our communication clear and organized, I kindly ask that you share any updates in this original thread.

Unfortunately, we are unable to assist at the moment since your case is being actively reviewed by our partner team. They will provide updates as soon as possible.

Best regards,

Sarah.

The same thing happened to me last week when Amazon said that HMRC had contacted them asking about my UK establishment. But when I contacted HMRC, they confirmed that there was no enquiry going on against my company. I don't understand why Amazon is using the government's name for verification purposes.
