Problem Resulting from Listing Merge

Hello, I hope you’re doing well. I would like to share a rather unusual and complicated issue I'm currently facing. I will also attach some photos to help explain the situation more clearly.

I had two FBA listings on Amazon, both for the same product in two different color options:

1st Listing: ASIN: B0F4GYZR4P, SKU: 0B-H12Y-Z9PB

2nd Listing: ASIN: B0F3XZ1GWX, SKU: I0-VSUX-IIW2

About three days ago, I tried to assign my 1st listing as a variation under my 2nd listing. However, something went wrong during the process and the listings merged incorrectly. Now, both listings are showing the same ASIN B0F3XZ1GWX, while their SKUs remain different.

You’ll be able to better understand the issue by checking the attached photos. I’ve reached out to customer support multiple times, and even received emails regarding this matter, but unfortunately, the issue still hasn't been resolved.

At this point, I kindly request one of the following solutions:

To restore both listings to their original, separate states.

If that’s not possible, can we match SKU: 0B-H12Y-Z9PB to the inventory of the new listing I created with ASIN: B0FB3ZVZXL?

I would greatly appreciate your assistance on this matter.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Hi @Seller_S8eHzhsQmmQaX,

First of all: I don’t think you need to worry about your inventory or about having permanently lost any of your listings.

With that said, let’s quickly talk about what “connecting product variations” really means.

In the beginning, you had two separate products. Each was a “simple product.” When you switch to a configurable product, you now have one parent product with multiple child products. Each color variant is a child product.

So, instead of connecting one ASIN to another, you actually create a new parent product to which your existing products are connected. This parent is purely virtual (not buyable). It acts as an umbrella to organize your child products.

Now, coming back to what potentially happened:

If both SKUs are now showing the same ASIN, that usually means they’re connected as different “offers” for the same listing - often, one is FBA and one is FBM.

If that’s correct, your B0F4GYZR4P inventory is no longer connected to an active listing. This inventory is now called “stranded inventory.” You can check for this here: Link

Fixing these issues is easiest with a Flat File (also called Inventory Loader).

The basic steps are:

  1. Delete the newly created, unnecessary ASIN: B0FB3ZVZXL.
  2. Delete SKU 0B-H12Y-Z9PB. Make sure to wait at least 24 hours after deletion before reconnecting it to B0F4GYZR4P.
  3. After 24 hours, re-list that SKU. This also resolves the stranded inventory issue.
  4. Review your product data (images, text, etc.) to make sure nothing was overwritten.
  5. Once you’re back to where you started, you can create a new parent product and then link your variation (child) products under it.

You might want to check or temporarily adjust your auto-removal settings for stranded inventory, just in case. Though, if the issue only happened recently, you likely have time.

Feel free to update us here if you run into any further issues.

All the best,

Michael
