🛑Stop Unauthorized Brand Name Changes [Quick Guide] 🛑
Hello Sellers!
We know protecting your brand matters. Here's a simple guide to reporting unauthorized brand name changes on your ASINs. This information was posted here previously but I want to resurface as it's important.
When Can You Use This Process?
If you're the Trademark/Brand owner and someone changed your ASIN's brand name without permission, follow these three steps to submit a complaint.
1. Click "Report Abuse" on the product detail page
2. Select "Product detail page was changed to represent a different product"
3. Include helpful details like when you created the ASIN and what the original brand name was
Important: This process doesn't cover...
- Revoked brands – If your brand was removed from Brand Registry, you'll need to appeal and restore it first before trying to restore the brand names.
- Generic to branded changes – We can't change Generic brand names to registered brands (see our Brand Name Policy for details)
- Your own brand updates – If you created the ASIN under a different brand and want to change this to another brand name. (see our Brand Name Policy for details)
What Happens Next?
We're actively reviewing these reports and working to resolve them faster. If your report gets declined, don't worry. Just create a discussion in the "Manage Your Brand" category with your complaint ID, and we'll follow up on your thread as soon as possible.

We can't change Generic Brands. No problem but why can others - someone changing them!

Thank you for sharing this information. your Topic is - Rubbing salt in the wound.
To be honest, the last few years have been extremely difficult [ Hell ] for many sellers because of ongoing Amazon catalog and brand issues. In our case, some of our best-selling SKUs had their brand names changed overnight — not once or twice, but multiple times on the same listings.
We originally created these ASINs long before our brand was officially registered. Later, our registered brand name was authorized and approved by Amazon’s catalog team under our shop name. However, when we requested to update the listings to our registered brand name, Seller Support told us that Amazon does not allow brand name changes.
So our question is: if legitimate brand owners are not allowed to change brand names, how are hijackers able to do it so easily?
Not only that, we were even asked by hijackers for large sums of money in order to regain control of our own listings. We opened cases with Amazon, but many times it feels like Amazon only likes to lecture sellers instead of taking real action against hijackers.
We have been selling through FBA for more than 10 years. Suddenly, because of unauthorized brand name changes, our inventory becomes stranded or blocked, and we are unable to continue selling products we built ourselves.
For many long-term sellers, topics like this feel like rubbing salt in the wound because we have already suffered through these problems for years without proper protection or support.
It feels like a double standard. Genuine long-term sellers are struggling to protect their own listings while unauthorized changes continue happening. Sellers need better protection, faster support, and stronger action against listing hijackers.
We hope Amazon seriously improves seller protection and consistency in handling these cases.

Ive reported many where the EAN code has been "hijacked" as their own brand and or Generic - Using this process has anyone had any results - Feels like a waste of time as nothing changes.
I cant list half of my suppliers stock as previous listings have been created taking the EAN - Ive reported (as suggested) with link to the suppliers showing the EAN code on their website with the product and a month later still no change @Sandy_Amazon

I have been trading on Amazon for about 20 years. In those days Brand Registry was not a main feature. We like so many sellers often used a generic name or names that were indicative of the product's description. With products in the several hundreds using this system, Amazons answer to registering under our official brands in teh Brand Registry is 'create new ASINS'!
On top of that, we now see what appears to be a blatant hijacking of many of our own manufactured products and a name we do not recognise being added to our products generic brand and even to those products in the main images clearly marked with our brand registered with Amazon.. I made a support request that took quite some time to prepare but after several days was told to pass to another support team! LIke so many selling on Amazon, this reporting takes so much time. As an authorised distributor for a large worldwide brand, we are intending to add to Amazon, this current issue is now holding this up, whiclt we now go round in circles. Is there a quicker, common sense way, to resolve these issues?
Also, shouldn't those who seem to hijack sites be named and shamed?
