🛑Stop Unauthorized Brand Name Changes [Quick Guide] 🛑
Hello Sellers!
We know protecting your brand matters. Here's a simple guide to reporting unauthorized brand name changes on your ASINs. This information was posted here previously but I want to resurface as it's important.
When Can You Use This Process?
If you're the Trademark/Brand owner and someone changed your ASIN's brand name without permission, follow these three steps to submit a complaint.
1. Click "Report Abuse" on the product detail page
2. Select "Product detail page was changed to represent a different product"
3. Include helpful details like when you created the ASIN and what the original brand name was
Important: This process doesn't cover...
- Revoked brands – If your brand was removed from Brand Registry, you'll need to appeal and restore it first before trying to restore the brand names.
- Generic to branded changes – We can't change Generic brand names to registered brands (see our Brand Name Policy for details)
- Your own brand updates – If you created the ASIN under a different brand and want to change this to another brand name. (see our Brand Name Policy for details)
What Happens Next?
We're actively reviewing these reports and working to resolve them faster. If your report gets declined, don't worry. Just create a discussion in the "Manage Your Brand" category with your complaint ID, and we'll follow up on your thread as soon as possible.

Ah,
what happens when a branded product is hijacked converted to Generic brand
and then other sellers cannot add an offer onto another seller's "generic" listing.
and the report abuse system says that it cannot find the violation reported

There's a quite simple fix to this problem and so many other listing problems encountered by Amazon sellers.
The solution is to give all sellers their own shop and listings to look after just the same as eBay do, AND GET RID OF THIS ANTIQUATED CATALOGUE SYSTEM.
Over 20 years of eBay membership and having thousands of listings not once have I had a listing title or photo changed or the description messed about with, EVER.
Since we started on Amazon 10 years ago we got to a peak of almost 3000 listings, this has slowly dwindled to around 300. We've had to remove 90% of our offers due to changes made by others that we can't fix due to Amazons systems or intransigence. Also we can't add to our offers as Amazon has made it virually impossible to list new items.
eBay arn't perfect, far from it, but once we make a listing on their platform we can forget about it untill it sells out, whereas on Amazon it's just one long worry thinking what will happen tomorrow and the endless checking we have to do.

Nothing happens, I reported this on the day you posted, but no case has been created, and I haven't received any response from your team. Obviously, nothing has changed. I am quite sure that your seller support team's response will suggest changing the brand name, which could mislead customers. However, they won't understand that I did not ask for changing the brand name, I asked for correcting it, not correcting is actually misleading the customer, and if your system does not allow that, then how did it get changed in the first place? Let's wait for the response.

How exactly is someone allowed to change a listing that is brand protected? Isn't that the whole point of brand registry?

What about when its Amazon doing the unauthorized brand name changes? Ive had this on multiple listings, recent one is a high seller, where amazon themselves have changed the brand to one of my own others, and wont change it back.

I find it quite frustrating that sellers aren’t allowed to update or slightly tweak brand names. When I first started selling on Amazon, Brand Registry wasn’t even available, so some of my earliest ASINs were created before brand protection was really an option. Now I’m simply trying to protect those original ASINs from being continually hijacked. The change I’m requesting wouldn’t cause any confusion for customers—there would be no visible branding change. If anything, updating the brand name would actually make it consistent with the packaging. What makes this even more confusing is that last year I had three cases where Amazon support updated the brand names on certain listings for me. This year I’m being told that this isn’t something Amazon does, despite the fact that I have proof that it has already been done.

judging from the number of folk posting in the forums for help, if your listing is Hijacked, move on, Amazon arent going to respond to reports or assist you in any way

My listings are always getting changed, nobody except me should be able to change them.
