Restarting an Application following Failed Verification

Genuinely asking for a friend here!

I have been on Amazon for years so I am not familiar with the new verification procedures but I know they are tough! An acquaintance has failed verification and we think we know why (possible mismatch in addresses) but has anyone got experience of reapplying after failed verification?

We all know that we should never try and re-apply or open a second account if suspended on Amazon but is it OK to reapply after failed verification? Amazon themselves seem to suggest that you can - see the message below - but I am keen to hear the views of others.

Amazon say this!

We will contact you within 3 business days with more information. You can also restart the application process with a new account.

Any feedback will be very welcome! :grimacing:

An update for everyone who kindly commented on this thread. My seller friend sent an email to the [trms-siv-sesunoir@amazon.com] address advising that she had reviewed the documents used in the original failed verification and that she could see that one of them did not meet the requirements. She asked if there was any advice about how to re-upload the new documents in order to continue with her application. The next day the account was cleared and opened without any upload. Maybe a log jam somewhere! There was still a bit of faff to go through with verifying bank details but this was easier since she then had full access to the account. I wonder if her account might be temporarily deactivated shortly - as is often the case with new sellers while they verify other details. Not been asked for a letter of authority yet either.

Thanks again and I hope this update helps other sellers in a similar situation

Ignore the ludicrous SS advice, you cannot open a 2nd account if the 1st is suspended.

Is there a possibility that they have changed things ?, as that is the second or third time I have seen that stated,
Trouble is, folks on here don’t know, as we are only familiar with what we know from the past.

Persevere with getting the original account up and running

Have they only tried to submit the info once before realising it was wrong ?

Not sure if it still works but there used to be the seller-verification@amazon.co.uk address
Maybe worth emailing the correct document ?!

Thanks everyone. I was just curious because it sounded like the account was not suspended - the application for an account failed verification and so maybe it never became an account in the first place! That is why the advice to open a new account was potentially plausible - although, like everyone else here I would always treat that advice carefully!

For initial application, the uploaded documents were seemingly accepted online but verification failed immediately after the video verification call. These are the three emails that came in. My friend did open a case which led to the ‘you can open another account’ advice.

We haven’t tried emailing anyone yet but that remains an option. I should say that this all took place last July and so I’m not sure if the time gap will also now cause any problems.

It is a new Ltd account with a registered business address and banks account address showing at an accountants address - and the Directors address showing as a residential address. Starling bank account was used for business bank verification but a mobile phone screenshot was used as evidence of a bank statement! Could this be a problem?

It is difficult to know whether verification failed because of some issue in checking the documents during the video call - or whether it failed due to a problem with the documents themselves. But if the documents were accepted during application - why would they fail the video call unless it was a different problem - maybe to do with visibility of the docs.

As ever- without knowing what the actual issue is - it feels impossible to know how to address things without potentially making it worse!

Really appreciate the input so far and wonder if the attached documents help to shed any light on it. : )

To add, if it’s a starling account they can download certified bank statements and letters as pdf files from the app which can be used straight away so no need for screenshots or photos

My first account didn’t get verified for the same reasons. I was contacting amazon for a couple weeks, it was slow and painful. Until I gave up and created a new email/account etc. I asked for the previous account to be terminated/closed and setup a new one with success.

I had to go though and check all my docs for typos, addresses, names, had to have a new phone number etc etc. And then I had to submit even more documents.

It’s difficult, amazon take a few days between correspondence too. Just make sure to ask for the previous application to be removed and you’re trying again.
