Christmas shipping settings
Hi - Would anyone be willing to give me a sanity check on our shipping settings heading into Christmas?
We’re entirely SFP, we ship Monday-Saturday, and our default handling time is 1 day.
Our warehouses will be closed Dec. 24-25. We’ll be open Dec. 26, but I don’t think UPS will be picking up because that’s a shipping holiday.
So, here’s what I was going to do:
Just before order cutoff on Friday, Dec. 23: convert all of our Prime ASINs to our Non-Prime template (with just Free Economy and Standard Shipping) and increase our handling time to 4 days, which should result in Dec. 27 ship dates?
After order cutoff on Saturday, Dec. 24: switch all ASINs back to the Prime template with 1-day handling - because we don’t have Sunday enabled as a shipping day, and Monday is when Christmas is observed, so again, all orders should get Dec. 27 ship dates?

Since the 25th and 26th are non-shipping days anyway do you really need to change anything?

Greetings @VOLT_Lighting,
Your settings should work, a bit complicated but based on my understanding they should work. You might want to try using the Holiday Settings Feature as it covers all public holidays. It may be a helpful tool for this.

Could you not use the SFP switch and just turn that off? Then turn it back on based on the time that you have ciphered out?
When we did SFP, and we still are approved but stopped when COVID and the changes were handed down, that is how we handled this type of event.
Sorry we have been out of it for a few years now, so I do not have more detail to provide. However, that switch always worked well for us.

Congrats on still being SFP. Many left with the view requirements.
Monday, Dec 26 is a shipping holiday per Amazon. USPS has it as a holiday, I have not checked if we can still get a pickup. We can ship on almost every other holiday (Mon-Sat) but we really do not care about the day after Christmas. UPS is not running on the 26th. FedEx is working.
I agree with ImageAbility, but will add that you have to worry about pending orders. You have to account for pending orders. Or change things earlier. One random order and you go ship and every one else has Saturday off?? Leaving town, different story. Especially to protect your SFP.
So, maybe you just need to turn of SFP on Thursday before cutoff.
Just be sure that your non-SFP does not allow Saturday shipping. Or just turn that off also. Easier than adding handling time.
