What happens if I lose my phone and cant get OTP to log in?

Hi I have been wondering since the intro of OTP codes for log in how would I log in if I lost my phone.?..amazon would presumably advise me to log a case but of course I couldnt log in to do that? Is there an official answer or anyyone experienced this?

As a backup now, either add a second number or, download the authenticator app on your PC

This weird. I have Microsoft Authenticator on my iPhone, but can’t seem to find it on my Mac desktop? How do you get Microsoft Authenticator on a Mac desktop? Thanks

Another option I have just thought of that might work (on a Mac) is enable Messages (the Apple text messaging system) - but i don’t know if you need to have your iPhone in range of the computer (Mac) for it to work. Does anyone know if text messages still come through on a Mac if your iphone is turned off / lost / out of range etc etc?

I use the google authenticator but it makes sense to make sure that you have your mobile number up to date, and it couldn’t hurt for someone that you trust to also have it in case the worst happens.

WinAuth is an open-source Windows Authenticator supporting Google Authenticator. I am using the Google Authenticator on my Android device for 2FA, and it makes sense to have a back-up option so I am considering this one as WinAuth can apparently be used from Windows, can anyone comment on this if it is any good?

I have had this issue with KDP and it has been a nightmare - but that was because I have not accessed my KDP account for over a year so it has gone “dormant” . However, if you did lose your phone, presumably you would get a new one with a new sim and simply transfer your telephone number to the new phone. You can phone Amazon on these numbers - 0808 1453768 / 0800 0116287 and ask them to remove 2-step authentication.

I couldn’t get in over the weekend so had to have 2FA disabled & then set it up again. So I added a second mobile + Authy which I already use for Zero & World First. I’m now adding Authy Desktop version too. Very easy to use & set up.

Hi guys hinesty I haven;t been thinking about this until now. Actually I had no back up methods thank you so much for pointing on this as I wouldn;t be able to login when lost my mobile  Will add second phone number and authenticator app. When trying to add google authenticator it says that amazon account is already added - cant find this anywhere within my seller account, shall I just replace this?
With second app - Authy I understand that you can download app to you mobile and then install desktop verion? Can someone confirm that this is the correct one:
