Seller Central is Adding Stock to Items we Cancel
Hi there
We have an ongoing issue of items overselling on Amazon.
We sell on other platforms such as our website and eBay, the stock is automatically sent through to Amazon to keep it correct, however if we cancel an item, Seller Central will add that stock back to the inventory when we really don’t want it to.
Our system will put the inventory at -1 if we oversell, but since Amazon can’t do -1, it will stay at 0, and when we correct the stock, our own inventory will go to 0 (and since there’s no change, it won’t send stock to Amazon), but Seller Central for some reason adds its own stock.
We had a customer place an order for a very high value item that could not be fulfilled, we cancelled this order and 3 hours later the exact same customer re-ordered the exact same item because Seller Central changed our stock from 0 to 1 when we performed the cancellation.
What i’m asking is, is there a setting we can change to stop seller central from playing with our inventory numbers?
We have far too much business coming through to sit and watch the inventory all day.
Thanks

Are you sure your local stock managements system didnt return the item to stock when you cancelled the order locally?
If you have lots of business, you must be using a 3rd party integration? If so, cancelling an order from an “open orders” section will release the held stock back into being available and bam, it sells again.
If you cancel an order that you don’t have stock for, you have to set your local stock to 0 after cancelling the order otherwise it simply adds it back to stock.
I’m assuming a local stock system that sends updates to Amazon and other stores.

I have had a similar issue. Are you changing your local stock of -1 to zero? you are effectively adding one to stock which amazon lists. I never resolved the issue other than to leave at -1
