Amazon have incorrect weights and measurements - can't seem to get them corrected

Hello,

I have sold on Amazon for a few years but am relatively new to FBA which I started doing in January.

I recently sent a box of borducts to the Amazon warehouse and some of my items (48 units of 2 different items) have gone missing.
I am absolutely certain that these were packaged in the first place.

I submitted an enquiry to Amazon and was advised:

Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,

We understand your concern regarding the missing units on the shipment: FBAXXXXXXXX.

We have investigated on this shipment, and unfortunately, our fulfillment center associates have confirmed that they have not been able to locate the following units, missing from Shipment ID# FBAXXXXXXXX.

While investigating the shipment FBAXXXXXXXX, we have found a weight discrepancy in your shipment.

Expected weight: 31.225392940632pounds(14.164kg) (What Amazon expects to receive at the Fulfillment Center as per unit counts and their weight)

Received weight: 14.452624047672pounds(6.556kg) (What Amazon received at the Fulfillment Center)

Weight Difference: 7.4 kg (Expected weight minus Carrier weight)

======================================

How do we determine Weight Discrepancy:

======================================

Also please note that we were expecting 14.164kg.

Since the expected weight is more than the carrier weight, there is a discrepancy in the weight that was shipped. Accurate shipping weights are required for every FBA shipment and are needed for accurate inventory receiving. Shipping carriers generally do not re-weigh packages and rely on shipping weights provided by you or on your behalf.

Shipping weights can and will be used in the evaluation of reimbursement claims. Estimated shipping weights cannot be used to verify the receipt of inventory and should not be used. Accurate shipping weights assist in the verification of a shipment’s delivery to the fulfillment center.

Due to the weight discrepancies associated with this shipment, we are unable to confirm that all units were shipped. We evaluate reimbursement claims based on shipping weights. As per Amazon policy, Carrier weight should not be less than 80% of expected weight.

Not complying with Amazon policies may result in the denial of reimbursement claims.

We suggest you verify the weight of the shipment once again and check if the weight is correctly updated on the Amazon product detail page. If you believe the weight is not correctly updated for the units in our system, please let us know with the proof of correct weight, we will look further into it.

I have no idea why the expected weight was so badly out, but as per their suggestion I have re-weighed each of my items and sent them the details. My own weight measurements confirm that the correct expected weight is similar to the weight of the package I sent (and well within 20%).
Also, I have submitted a re-measure request for each of my items.

The remeasure requests are wildly inaccurate when they come back and some items are getting measured twice by Amazon with ridiculously different results (ie an item key which was weighed at 100 grams instead of 5 etc etc etc).

However instead of replying to my details of weights, Amzon are just replying with a copy and paste or rehash of the previous reply.

This is costing me a reasonable amount of money in lost stock costs and also loss of profit on the aforementioned stock. I am also concerned that my storage charges will be high for items incorrectly recorded as much larger than they are - all due to the apparent inability of Amazon to use a tape measure and scales correctly!

Has anyone else had these sorts of problems and any ideas on how I can get Amazon to listen to me and remeasure / reweigh my items accurately?! Once my items are accurately recorded, life will be much easier!

Thank you for your help,
Tom

Had a long conversation with Amazon rep on the phone. He made some notes to pass onto the next level.
I thought we’d made some progress but the notes (which I’m not sure he intended to share) ay:

FBA ORDER
some items are lost
it’s about the weight of the shipment

FBAXXXXXXX

Some
14 kilograms 6 kilo grams

seller is disputing the weight of the shipment
unable to understand the seller accent properly

… The annoying thing is that it’s in mine and Amazon’s interests to resolve this efficiently and we just keep going around in circles…
