Vine reviews has ruined our listings

Heads-up, just a rant here. We’ve used Vine on a handful of new products to gain honest reviews, it really has been a disaster on most occasions. Even when their review states that the product is excellent, they still only give you a 4-star review (very rarely 5 star), assuming these are read more by customers and they can build up their ranks this way. Apart from this, they usually admit they wouldn’t normally buy this type of product, so they are reviewing a product they already have no interest in - it’s a biassed review from the start. The program is not cheap to enter £140, it’s just a shame that the products don’t end up in the hands of your target audience.

This is the main issue with any sort of review programme like Vine. It’s the same with the other retailers I’ve found, that even offered audience targeting.

Not only could a product not be to someone’s taste, but it may cost more than what that reviewer would typically spend on that type of product.

With an organic review this doesn’t happen - the customer already decided they like the product, and they are comfortable with the price since they actually bought it.

I also just started doing vine and not a single person has used my product for its intended use so I’ve received some pretty rubbish reviews. Some of the one star reviews even state that it would probably be good for its intended purpose but not for what they used it for.

One of the reviews even reads as an advertisement for another brand selling on amazon.

It killed my listing overnight. I went from 40 sales a day to 8, despite still averaging 4.1 stars.

I have a few customers who have left 4* reviews stating that they believe all 5* reviews to be fake…

I’ve not joined the vine program after one of its members bought a few products from me and left false damming reviews ( I did eventually get them removed ) turned out he was a director from a competitor selling on Amazon and was giving his own company glowing 5 star reviews and everyone else negative ones…

You’re lucky to get 4 star reviews.

The Usual review I get is 3 stars and they don’t mention the product and just say it’s too expensive.
