Recalled product, what after?

Hi all.
I sold a product last year (no bad feedback, or return from buyers in 7months) and now it was recalled.
1 month ago I got this recall email, I contacted amz about it, seller support said it doesnt affect me. 5 days ago amz started to refund all the buyers who bought this asin. Seller support again( lets call her L), now they said, not Amazon is refunding the buyers, should be a hacker! (absolute nonsense!) the caseworker made a new listing on my account for this recalled item, I have no idea for what. I couldnt ask whats happening now with my/buyers money as she didnt understand what Im asking. I asked in an email about the product recalling policy. I got back an answer from S. what wasnt related to my question at all. 1 day later I got another email from M. who stated S and L gave me a wrong answer. But thats it, no explanation to my original question at all.
So can tell me, somebody, what is happening? Buyers got back their money already, without the items were returned, or they will get it when they returned?

I have already heard about many cases where Amazon issued full refunds to buyers for recalled products, without requiring them to return the products. Hoverboards, fidget spinners, solar eclipse glasses…

I think that the only thing you can do is to contact the buyers and ask them to return the items. I hope, that the products were not expensive ones. Could you provide the listing’s ASIN?

As this is a sellers forum I don’t think anyone will be able to answer that question for you.

You’ll have to speak to Seller Support again unfortunately.

If there has been a legitimate reason for the recall (have you looked it up), can’t you just ask your own supplier for compensation? It happens.

@Kika Solar eclipse glasses - flashback! :rofl:

The last product feedback gives some idea as to why Amazon have recalled this product;

"0 out of 5 starsDangerous do not buy
12 June 2017
Verified Purchase
Doesn’t deserve a star rating this product is dangerous, I changed the batteries in my daughters teddy tonight and it started smoking we quickly took the batteries out it was red hot any longer and I’m sure it would have burst into flames and to think my daughter had ever slept with anything so dangerous, the wires are melted and you can well imagine with all the stuffing how fast it could of gone up in flames

Amazon is basically a mess. We now have a few refunds for FBA and I do not understand whats happening. No messages, nothing at all. Can you imagine if they would make a refund say for a camera that cost £700.

And if somebody decided to ruin your business they can do it too with a bunch of scammers from China.

it does say on the recall notice that the batch number is on the packaging.
which of course - most customers would have discarded.

I am guessing that is why amazon have issued refunds to everyone who bought it -

The product reviews for this item give some indication as to why Amazon would consider recalling it, the above is a review from a verified customer allbeit June 2017 but is also importantly the top product review for this item, the most recent reviews also indicate poor quality or wiring issues.

These are product reviews for this ASIN B01GS6NQ9G that a number of sellers are selling against they are not necesscarily applicable to any individual seller , but by Amazon’s listings policy the sellers selling this product/ASIN should all be selling the exact same item, it is possible for a seller to sell an inferior or inauthentic product against a listing but typically the seller would be removed from the listing with a subsequent account suspension. The fact this product has been recalled indicates Amazon have had some form or safety issue, if this was simply down to a high number of returns Amazon would suspend the listing, a product recall is unusual.

To give a more definitive response to your original post we really need to see the full Amazon response with any personal and business information redacted,

“Not happy cant contact seller, guve to granddaughter xmas and it only worked for one, changed batteries and nothing DONT BUY WASTE OF MONEY”

Some of the more recent product feedbacks given by customers;

"Daughter loved her nightlight teddy & it made her feel safe in the dark but after a couple of months it stopped glowing. We couldn’t get it to work again it’s not the batteries but a wiring problem (we had two different bears both stopped glowing).

Won’t be buying it again.

My daughter was very upset as this was the only cuddly night light I could find that didn’t play a tune."

Frankly, If I were selling this item, judging by the reviews (regardless if the recall relates to a particular batch) - I would drop the product line and offload the product outside of Amazon e.g job lot on some deals website. Granted it is explicitly not part of said faulty batch. It’s just too problematic to continue to sell this product and frankly frightening in light of the reviews.
