Merging two seller accounts

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me. I have tried Amazon Support and it’s getting a little painful tbh.

We have an Amazon Seller account (approx. 100 skus). Our company has taken on another company that has a much bigger seller account than ours; but has been shutdown for most of this year (more than 5,000 skus UK, similar France).

I understand we cannot have two accounts but wonder what the best approach now would be.

My thoughts are transferring the new company skus into our account by:

  1. Downloading their category inventory files
  2. Deciding which to upload – many don’t sell well, so thinking best to do it a bit at a time.
  3. Upload via file upload – I’ve never done this before but several you tube videos make it look doable.
  • Is this how to do it?
  • Can I just use their skus and product ids as these relate to the same products?
  • When uploading via file upload, may be a silly question, but that doesn’t overwrite what’s already there does it? i.e I don’t need to reupload all our inventory each time?
  • Another issue is that the products are a mix of simple products with no variations and customizable products – I’m thinking my approach will not work for the custom products!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Especially if anyone knows of an easier way?

I’m really concerned that if I get this wrong, I’ll end up with both accounts shutdown.

Thank you
Helen

Not sure about merging the skus but has the amazon account been officially transferred over to your company ?

Thank you for your replies very much appreciated.

Looks like I need to find out more about the account before I start messing with it. All the products cannot be trademarked because they aren’t their products. But they do have their own designs they are allowing us to use, so could be that they are trademarked/BR. I guess this is going to make everything even more tricky!?

Yes, it isn’t something we would ever have an invoice for. They are just designs, they manufactured the product using the designs and we’ll continue to manufacture using them, they are keen we use their name, but haven’t thought through how all this will work out in reality. And I’ve got the job of sorting it !

What would gated mean - is that something that would prevent us from even listing it?

I managed to merge 2 accounts.
I am unsure the process I went through but I think they both had to match (legal entity etc) before they were merged - I had to decide which account would be the main one and the SKUs etc were transferred across.
The only issue I had was the parent line (own brands) were not transferred and only the skus with FBA stock were transferred. So I had to set up the missing lines that had no stock at the time. I still have to go back to the “dormant” account to access parent line info etc

They also managed to transfer the merchant feedback too a few weeks later.

It was relatively pain free (I think!! Or I’ve blocked out the heartache and stress)

Our problem is we don’t own the other account yet - in that it hasn’t been transferred to us. Just worried they won’t allow the transfer given they would be all the same company details selling very similar products.
