Policy Warning for 'Writing reviews that I have a financial interest in'

I received a policy warning from Amazon saying that I, an employee, or relative has left a customer review that I have a financial interest in. The email does not give any specifics at all.

The email is from reviews-seller-appeals@amazon.com

The content of the email is at the bottom of the post

I have been terrified of Amazon’s bots going rouge and taking any reviews that I leave for items completely unrelated to my business as a sign that I am trying to manipulate sales. For this reason, I have not left a single Amazon review for many many years, nor has my wife for the same reason. I have no employees, so they could not have done it, and my close family members outside my household know about my worries as well.

If any mod can help, that would be greatly appreciated, as the email literally gives no example or exact reasoning. The only two things I can think of is either a bot has incorrectly flagged my account or I am being attacked by someone, who has tricked Amazon’s bots to think they are someone they are not.

" Dear ,

We have determined that your account is related to accounts that have written Amazon customer reviews for products that you have a financial interest in. This may include products that you or your competitors sell.

Why did I receive this message?
Family members, close friends, or employees of a seller on Amazon may not write reviews for the seller’s items or negative reviews for items sold by that seller’s competitors. Sellers are not allowed to manipulate ratings, feedback, or customer reviews. Learn more about this policy in Seller Central Help (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/help/200386250).

Amazon strives to maintain customer trust and provide the best possible shopping experience. As a result, we will investigate when we learn that sellers, vendors, or others have attempted to manipulate reviews. This includes offers of compensation in exchange for reviews.

If this continues, it may result in account deactivation.

We’re here to help.
If you have questions about this policy or your account, please search for “Prohibited seller activities and actions” in Seller Central Help (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/help/200386250).

You can view your account performance at (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/performance/dashboard?reftag=email_team) or select Account Health on the home screen of the Amazon Seller app on your iOS or Android device. The Account Health dashboard shows how well your account is performing against the performance metrics and policies required to sell on Amazon.

Thank you,

So sorry to hear this happening to you. While it will be of little comfort to you, you are not the only one. Here’s the other thread from moments ago:

Customer Review Policy Violation - Need Appeal Letter - Selling on Amazon - Amazon Seller Forums

Perhaps the bots have gone mad and this will be resolved when there is an abundance of these types of “associations”. In that case, I’m sure some of the Mods will weigh in.

Wishing you the best.

How do I appeal this?

The email does not give any information regarding an appeal and responding to the email just gets kicked back by mailnull@amazon.com stating that the email is unmonitored. Even stranger, it is signed off by the Audible Team?

Here is the response email:

"Dear Customer,

This is an automated email.

Hello @JClay,

This is Antonio here with Amazon. I will be happy to assist you.

The alert that you have received is a warning letting you know that there is an issue with written reviews. In this case, you need to investigate what is causing this problem, and why.

We recommend that you look at all methods used to post or obtain customer reviews. How do you usually communicate with buyers? Do you use any 3rd party company to help you handle these communications/feedback? What are the contents of your promotional campaigns? When you’re offering these, how do you relay your message to buyers?

Although it is not against policy to ask for reviews on products, you cannot ask for positive reviews or phrase asking in a way that suggests only leaving favorable reviews or discourage negative reviews.

Here are some helpful tools that’ll help you understand customer review policies customer review policies, and an intro to customer review abuse.

I hope you find this information useful.

Antonio.
