Why do most products from reputed brands have multiple listings of the same product?

Hello All,

I came across a product that has multiple listings. It is from a well-reputed brand, on some listings Amazon is also a seller. So my question here is, why do these products have multiple listings and ASINs?

These listings are of the same products but they have different reviews and ranks. So for instance in choosing a product to sell how do we curate as to which listing to sell on?

Information on this matter would be highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards

Start by matching the UPC number so you know it is the correct product.

Over the years SOME brands have changed packaging and perhaps changed the UPC numbers as well so the brand could have caused the issue. In other cases some 'creative' sellers wanted to do 'their own' ASIN so they altered one minor detail someplace and got a second (or third, fourth, fifth) listing started and as long as Amazon sees a 'difference' they won't merge them despite being identical except for what a creative mind did to it.

In other cases a seller was active on a NON .com site and had listed the items there. When they joined the .com the ASIN with a different title and details came along for the ride.

SOMETIMES Amazon has the audacity to merge those listings and suddenly a perfectly good ASIN is showing up in Spanish.

Check out ASIN B001KXKHH2 if you want to buy some 'Rope Electric Slinky Entorchada 040'

Greetings @Seller_BcfaFOD0WZsi4,

As mentioned by @Seller_kIukTwdhvntAp the best course is to match the UPC of your product exactly. There are a number of reasons Amazon might not merge similar products, for example, if they have different packaging or UPCs the product may not be eligible for a merge. The goal with these type of issues is to ensure buyers get exactly what the ordered and that the contents of the detail page exactly match what the customers receive. If you identify listings you think should be merged you can reach out to Seller Support to request a merge, however you should only do so if you have strong evidence that the two listings are exactly identical. Thank you for your understanding.
