DDP Delivery includes VAT?
Hello!
I have recently been quoted by a supplier to ship DDP to the UK from China. As far as I have been able to understand the supplier and researching this means that all import duties etc will be paid by the supplier including VAT. However the price they have quoted me is around $550 for delivery on a $2900 shipment. This doesn’t make sense to me as with VAT at 20% that would already make $580 without any of the shipping costs etc on top?
Could someone please clarify exactly what is included in DDP shipping if you have used it before? Or please explain where i’m going wrong in my calculations?
Thanks very much!
Joe

Hi first thing I will say if your a new seller I would really advise against this.
As a new seller 99.99% of people are been asked to verify authenticy and supplier or wholesaler there are probably about 60%bad to 40% good in China unfortunately and its counterfeit capital - we do import as experienced sellers so it can be done but with little experience you may be at a loss.
DDP is mostly a service provided by Alibaba sellers and not that of a registered manufacturer in my experience so be very cautious - Also amazon will not accept alibaba seller invoices.
DDP - is your import duty paid by third party this also means you can’t claim back vat on it.
Shipment is going to depend on size and weight - if its a good manufacturer they will have contacts and be able to ship by sea or train takes upto 30 days but the saving compared to air is tramence.
Hope that helps answer some questions
