No reviews - any tips on how to legitimately gain reviews?

Launched product three weeks ago. Have sold 68 items so far. When I launched, I announced it in a small business forum I have been a member of for years. Three forum members purchased it - and all left reviews - yay! But since then, I have not had a single review, good or bad, for the other 65 sales. Perplexed. I can see why the forum members left reviews - we are all people who run small businesses so people do try and be supportive of one another. They probably realised that leaving a review was worth as much as buying my item from me! But what to do for sales I haven’t pushed for? How can I drum up reviews? I asked Amazon if I am allowed to put a note in the packages (not asking for Good reviews…just asking for ‘a genuine review, good or bad’), but it isn’t allowed.

There is the ‘request a review’ button on each order but tbf, amazon will have already asked the buyer to leave one - as well as seller feedback so most customers may just delete the emails as spam

sounds like you’re doing okay, especially for a new product, without reviews.

just be patient - stay within Amazon’s rules - and the rest will take care of itself. don’t get too hung up on reviews.

good luck

This.

You will be guaranteed 25+ 4 - 5 star reviews (providing the products not crap & overpriced) costing you £140 + the cost of giving away 30 units.

I’ve been wondering recently whether some kind of insert with the product would work?

Of course very specifically neutrally worded, asking for a review or star rating to let us and customers know how we are doing, avoiding terms like " If you are happy " and such,

But I do not really recall seeing many flyers in stuff I’ve bought and those that did send them were normally advertising their wares elsewhere!

Review apathy is unsurprising on Azon given the much publicised fake reviews attained through black hat methods by sellers that seemingly never get dealt with.

We dont request reviews from Amazon customers these days; it’s futile.

On a positive note we’ve recently achieved 240 seller reviews, totally legitimately, on an alternative platform with a single request.

So it can be done. But I think timing is important. Try asking midnight on a Saturday or very early on Sunday morning. As already mentioned by others. Ask once only.

You will probs start getting reviews with no comments just a star rating, which is better than nothing I guess, am almost sure they come from Alexa as she randomly ask me to rate my last item from 1 to 5 every now and again

I’ve just now seen a review I received a few days saying item hadn’t arrived, along with a picture of their hand giving the middle finger!

You have to request them manually on each order.
Found in orders page.
The review success from buyers is only about 1% of 100 orders so it take a long time to build reviews
