Customer claims the box was damaged
Customer claims the box of the item he has received was damaged. It was a FBA item.
“Was rather disappointed with my delivery as the box the mugs was in was damaged In a couple of places. These were for a gift. I have had to go out and buy gift boxes and tissue paper as couldn’t give them with ripped packaging.”
Obviously he cannot return it.
What should I answer?
I am a new seller and I don’t know if I should give him a partial refund or what?

You should direct the buyer to contact Amazon and not arrange any returns or refunds on your own.
All customer service for FBA orders is handled by Amazon and you are paying them for it.

For future stock then perhaps you need to consider extra protection for your goods prior to dispatch to FBA to prevent a recurrence.
You have now seen first hand that your goods are not sufficiently well protected as it stands
