Sellers beware, a very Elaborate scam
Hi, guys, not been on here in years, I hope you are all well? Just wanted to give you a heads up of what happened to me today, if it stops one of you being robbed I feel good about it!
I received a phone call today claiming to be from Amazon review team, they said my account was on hold , as someone had tried logging on from an unusual computer, they said they would send me a text, below, which said from Amazon,
The text contains a link, they wanted me to click on it while they talked me through the process, it was very good and extremely convincing!! They knew my Vat no.
Address etc.
I’ve been receiving lots of Amazon spoof emails recently, so am very cautious, I asked for my last 4 digits of my bank account, they said they could not supply that as it was data protected,
I then asked again for my address, they got the last digit of the postcode wrong, I wasn’t sure if I’d got it wrong on my account, I told them to message me on seller central then call me back,
Obviously didn’t ring me back
Tel no. Was 028 9581 5115 shows on iPhone as Belfast!!

There have been one or two other reports of this happening, in one instance the seller did give away his info unfortunately, so it is good that you highlight this ongoing scam

That’s some great advice for all with asking the caller to provide proof i.e. last four digits of bank account, post code as well as getting them to message on seller central… Really glad to hear that you didn’t get sucked in…

It is actually very easy to see your vat number and address , Amazon publishes this and it is visible to anyone visiting the Amazon website . So don’t just believe that they have any insider knowledge if they give you this .

If you can see the number they’re calling from (although this scan be spoofed) it’s always worth googling it

Had a call like this yesterday. Figured out it was a scam straight away so thought I would have some fun. Unfortunately, he hung up too early. Maybe because I said '‘F**K off you scammer and get a life’.
