How To Move Pallets
Hi, I would like to start sending pallets to Amazon and am interested to know how others move them to the loading truck. I was hoping that the collection company had a means of moving the pallet from my drive to the road, but they advise that I pack the pallet by the road for easy access, but that means staying with it until the truck arrives.
What does everyone else do? Thanks in advance

If this is going to be a regular occurrence you could always buy a pump handle pallet trolley, you know, the ones shops use to pull pallets of goods around, otherwise you will have to build your pallet where the courier requests and wait with it.

Whenever I’ve needed to send a pallet I’ve asked them to call me 30 minutes before they’re due to arrive. That gives me time to move the pallet onto the road (to avoid it having to be moved down a curb) then stacked, wrapped and labelled. Then I sit inside watching it like a hawk until they turn up to collect it.
If you’ve got a relatively gentle dropped kerb it should be possible for them to move the pallet down that. Or if your drive is wide enough the lorry could reverse on?

Thank you for the info, I think I’ll buy a pallet truck.

Most haulage companies that send out small wagons have a taillift and pallet truck on board (sometimes you have to request tail lift).
If you have easy access to where the pallet is, then they should be able to get it for you with their pallet truck - i.e. if you have a garage, a good drive, and a dropped kerb.
If you haven’t got a dropped kerb to get onto road/truck you would be stuck either way, or if they send out an artic that needs fork lift.
