Product not searchable
I know this is a topic which has been discussed by booksellers (and probably sellers of other products) before but it is worth repeating.
If you click on the product name on your inventory it takes you to the ASIN that your book is listed under.
I cannot see my book in this ASIN
There is only one seller and it is not me.
My inventory tells me that my book is the lowest price - it is lower that the seller whose book is actually visible.
The photo in the listing is mine
I contacted “amazon help” who repeatedly told me that the ASIN is searchable and gave me lots of irrelevant stuff about how I could find it.
After 4 attempts I finally got someone to understand that there was no problem in finding the ASIN - it was finding MY book on that ASIN that I was after. They gave me this:-
Your listing is not currently assigned to a product category. Therefore, it is not searchable on Amazon. To update your category, complete these steps.
1. On the Manage Inventory page, click on Edit next to the product you want to fix.
2. Select “Vital Info” and fill in the required information in “Recommended Browse Nodes/Item Type Keyword”
If not found:
*** Toggle the “Advanced View” to on**
*** Fill in the needed information in “Recommended Browse Nodes/Item Type Keyword”**
I attempted to follow their instructions but there is nothing about browse nodes (I have no idea what a browse node is!!) . Also there is no “Advanced VIEW”
I am going to go back to “help” but I have absolutely no faith in them. If it were just one book with this problem I wouldnt bother but I believe I have hundreds that no one can see and therefore I will never sell them

I must admit that I sometimes wonder the same about much of my inventory.
You haven’t had an email to say that is has been search suppressed ? - I get those from time to time.
Does the book have an ISBN ? - what is it and I will search ? - or the title ?
When you click on ‘Edit’ from your inventory, there is now the option to choose ‘All attributes’ on the left (a change that appeared quite a while ago), instead of the button that was at the top right that was called Advanced view, or something similar ??
To be honest, I am not sure about browse nodes for books. When listing I simply choose ‘Books’ and that is it .

Resurrecting this thread, as have been doing a major cull of my books, and I am even more flabbergasted by the search results being returned when searching as a buyer would for some of the books in my inventory.
For example: searched for ‘The Think Trap’ by Ivor Crane - it is in my inventory and can be found from there, but not by an author/title search.
Here is the returned search:
the first result : The Boy, the Mole the Fox and the Horse, and then a whole load of toys of cranes - not a single matching word except ‘the’ !!!
You really couldn’t make this up. Does anyone else get a correct result when searching by title/author ?
