Chargeback Claim

We had a larger order placed in December, we are in the Handmade category. On the order it showed that signature confirmation was recommended for shipping. We shipped the order with signature confirmation and it was signed for by the buyer. A month later we get a chargeback claim on this order. It was closed by Amazon and it was not our responsibility. But the notes do not say the chargeback claim was defended. So does that mean that Amazon actually reimbursed someone that is already being flagged on their orders?

Why are orders allowed from people that have a track record like this? What if we hadn't followed the "suggestion", would we be responsible for the chargeback?

I am just appalled at how people deliberately set out to scam others.

Amazon doesn't have control over chargebacks, the buyer (scammer)'s bank has control over it. All Amazon can do is present evidence, and if the bank proceeds with the chargeback, then Amazon can either fund it themselves or charge you for it. It sounds like Amazon funded it themselves thankfully for your sake. I would think that if this happens much that Amazon would ban the buyer.

Hi @Seller_vCy0xpcY7PnIx

Seller @Seller_DdmPiA1p1S2Wuis correct.A chargeback occurs when a cardholder contacts their bank to dispute the charge for an order placed on Amazon.com. Chargebacks are also known as "charge disputes" and they can be filed for a variety of reasons, ranging from non-receipt of the item ordered to unauthorized use of the credit card.

In order to provide you with a bit more detailed information, I am linking you to the help page where we cover chargebacks.

Thank you for visiting the seller forums.
