I’m reaching out to the community for advice and support regarding a troubling situation we’re facing.
One of our competitors recently filed a copyright infringement complaint against one of our listings, alleging that we used their product photos without authorization. As a result, Amazon removed our listing. The problem is—the photos in question were taken and created by us originally, and we hold full rights to them.
We believe this competitor may have copied our images from our own listing or website and then uploaded them to their own site, possibly to create a false trail and claim ownership. They are now weaponizing this tactic to eliminate competition, which is not only unethical but completely dishonest.
We are in the process of submitting a counter notice to Amazon, along with supporting documentation showing that we are the rightful owners of the images, including original image files with metadata and timestamps. However, the reinstatement process is slow, and the takedown has already hurt our sales.
1. Has anyone here dealt with similar situations?
2. What else can we do to expedite the process with Amazon?
3. Is there any additional documentation or action you recommend submitting?
4. Are there any internal Amazon teams or escalation paths that can handle abuse of IP claims more effectively?
We’re a small U.S. business trying to compete fairly, and it’s frustrating to see tactics like this used to game the system.
