Hi everyone,
I’ve been selling on Amazon for about a year, and like many of you, I’ve put a lot of effort into maintaining high product quality and offering responsive, supportive customer service.
However, since earlier this year, I’ve noticed something deeply concerning — a noticeable increase in sudden, scattered 1-star reviews that don’t match the reality of our product or service. What makes these reviews particularly suspicious:
The content is vague or implausible (e.g. "too small," "arrived broken") despite strong packaging and clear descriptions.
The buyers never respond to refund or replacement offers.
Many of the reviewer profiles have only 1 to 3 lifetime reviews, all being 1- or 2-star, and often across unrelated products.
Some accounts appear to follow a pattern of targeting listings across categories.
This pattern raises concern over review manipulation or abuse, possibly coordinated by third parties to hurt seller performance or extort responses.
It is difficult for us sellers to take direct action, as we’re left without tools to verify or contest the legitimacy of these reviews.
Has anyone else seen a similar trend?
I’m not naming my product or niche because this is not about promotion — I’m genuinely worried about the long-term impact this may have on honest sellers who are being targeted unfairly.
If you’ve experienced this too, or if you’ve found any ways to report such behavior effectively, please share. I think we should collectively ask Amazon to improve detection mechanisms for suspicious reviewing patterns.
Thanks in advance for your support and thoughts.
