Listing API
by Seller_J5GpwldP4AOsy

I suspect this issue may have been covered earlier but i want to make certain it wont have a detrimental effect on my listings.

I only ever create my listings or edit them through seller central. I don't have many listings and this is the way i have always done them. I do them one by one so don't use flat files (to the best of my knowledge) or use a third party software provider.

Will my listings be disrupted when Amazon retire listing feeds on July 31st ?

Any feedback/guidance will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Does this mean I will no longer be able to upload (add/delete) any of my book listings to Amazon using my current upload spreadsheet

I am a bit concerned with over 10,000 listings on Amazon

Any comments would be helpful, I am currently FBM

Thanks

Yet another Amazon SNAFU!

we received a message today which was not clear regarding the Listings API

it does not clearly state if flat file uploads are being removed from the functionality of seller central.

it refers also to two other communiques from March 2024 & February 2025

which are also not clear.

Is a "listing" in this usage - an offer? (it refers to SKU) so this would seem not to be a product detail page

just about to post the same - another fine mess - at least they have realised the confusion they caused.

I think they sent the original message to any seller who has ever uploaded a file

and not just those who have used the old .api they are retiring.

I was going ask this question as well.

I'm guessing an API listing is different to using Amazon's own flat files.

We use Amazon's flat files, which is the only thing we've ever used.

I'm hoping this will still be the case and we carry on as usual?

I think it may be the file, as I use them to update handling times if I am away.

Other than that, I use the add product in Seller Central to create new listings.

The email about the update to Listings API was confusing. Not sure what the implications are going forward.

Prior to having a crack...I had (very) rudimentary programming experience (literally many years ago, and even then only beginner level). So I was kind of starting from scratch

If it's not clear to anyone...the world revolves around databases - your accounts software is a database, ebay's listings are a database, your website (if you have one) is a database. This very forum is a database...and so on.

Linnworks is essentially one very large database sliced up unto little bits that their paying customers use. So I realized I needed to learn about databases...now then, the industry standard is SQL, but an easier path is MS Access (as it has a lovely user friendly front end interface)...and literally that what I started on.

First learned how to construct a relational database...populating by importing data from excel/csv files (with for example customer order information exported from ebay, Amazon etc. Having got this working (& having learnt how to code using VBA), it quickly became tedious having to keep importing files...therefore I learnt how to code up an API (this is essentially a 'go fetch' instruction to your database - e.g. "go get all my ebay orders").

Not gonna lie, it's was one helluva learning curve...but it's like everything, baby steps first & then thinking "wouldn't it be useful/nice..." then working out how to do that.

There's nothing quite like the motivator of a deadline and as I said, Linnworks gave something like 4 months notification of their fees going from £0...to something like £1700. I'm so pleased they did, because that prompted me into action...and all the knowledge I've gained since, means I can pretty much self-deploy anything I need in my business (automation, labour saving tasks, forecasting/reporting etc.)

Hey @Seller_RkdWF0kenv334, thanks for sharing your experience.

For the error you’re seeing, one thing to check is whether the shipment includes at least 100 total units and is being created using small parcel delivery (SPD) with individual packing.

Amazon Recommended Packing won’t appear unless both of those conditions are met. It also isn’t supported for shipments created via API.

It sounds like your shipment with 50 SKUs and 158 units should qualify, so just make sure that all ASINs are set to "Individual packing" in Step 1, and that you’re confirming packing in Step 1b.

If everything looks right and the issue persists, refreshing the shipment workflow might help trigger new recommendations.

Appreciate the feedback about delivery timing, I’ll pass that along to the right team.

Cheers, Ezra
